They just bought more of Nintendo today. Ubisoft is right there waiting for their prince to rescue them.

Ubisoft was too much in bed with MS for all those years. They were at every XBOX reveal, they gimped Unity on PS for years. Jade Raymond showed the first AC on PS3 and said it would take advantage of it's strengths, but then Ubi spent all their time making sure the 360 version was better. They gimped Unity on PS4 at the same resolution as the XBONE version and the PS4 version still run worse. Parite, Egalite, Equite. Leave Ubisoft where it is, besides Sony is already making the best open world gameplay loops for the past decade.......I'd take Konami and it's IP's a million times over. Yet I love the POP series, especially, Prince of Persia 2008. Maybe Sony can get the POP IP.

Yes, they supported all platforms, but MS had a special place in their heart. Just research many Y'ves Guillemot choice quotes on any impending Xbox hardware release..
Lol, no. They supported all even random platforms even at launch, as an example they have been many times the main 3rd party supporter of Nintendo across generation. Example: even before making their launch Kinect game Ubisoft had already launched their own camera accesory and related casual games for Wii. And well, Sony always has been their main selling platform and had tons of deals with them too.

Ubisoft always had deals and good relationships with every single platform holder, even the mobile gaming ones like Tencent, Apple and Google having also games for the launch of their flagship stuff. I mean, even with Amazon to use Luna for their game streaming service.

Yves has good words for everybody and also may have his personal preferences, which don't dictate the main decisions of what the company does, these decisions are taken by a very wide team taking into consideration market data, player and Ubi staff feedback and suggestions, etc. I mean, Yves (and me) wanted to see an AC in feudal Japan since the times of AC IV or so.

Where it’s at.
Yeah because it's actually profitable. But microsoft doesn't have a profitability problem, it has a content problem. If the ABK acquisition is about justifying microsoft gaming to shareholders, then fair enough...but it won't really justify xbox to console gamers.
According to the documents Microsoft provided in the Epic V Apple lawsuit, while Microsoft as a whole is profitable, Xbox has never turned a profit in the whole time it has existed.

That’s why every generation after 360 almost didn’t happen, and why Game Pass is the only reason the Series consoles were greenlit.

Yeah that's why I say it doesn't have a profitability problem - Microsoft doesn't have a problem subsidizing xbox division because it aligns with their goals of dominating people's screen time whether it be on windows or in front of a tv. They are clearly willling to lose massive amounts of money to keep a failing operation going.

We are reaching the limit of that patience.

Watch what happens when the Activision buyout fails.

With MS throwing the big money around, you better believe every publisher and developer has put themselves up for sale in one form or another.

No one will buy ubisoft in its current state though. They should shed 80% of the workforce and sell off a few IPsif they want to be sustainable.

it won't.
I actually think the board might oust satya nadella if actiblizz falls through. His recent interviews have sounded very nervous. I think after the failed acquistions of tiktok and discord, he can't afford a high profile failure like this one.
