Never mind; there are DEFINITELY some salty people in the MGS/Silent Hill/Castlevania thread on Reset using all the same usual flawed talking points, but that thread's also much bigger than the Dead Rising one.

And it's kind of hard to find the same poster posting in both threads to see if they're showing a double-standard (though I'm sure that's happened at least a couple of times by now).

People will get mad as usual if it's exclusive but Konami wasn't doing anything with these IPs. They wouldn't exist without Sony.
This an old rumor way back. Guess it's coming to fruition. Shame people trying to spoil it.

PS has done well to distance itself and stand alone. No E3, Separate showcases , SOP. Exclusives. GP blocks, game funding/marketing/production of games. Xbox can't be associated with PS & the games it shows. Xbox used to get good will based on E3. And console association. That is over. That's why Phil was crying. The competition that was not competetion . Are doing deals that are not letting them be Xbox. Aka the pick me box , the me to box. They needed that acti deal badly for their showcase.

Ahh cheers to picking the blue side.

The recent media blitz/rumor mill may be trying to paint Playstation as this unstoppable deal-making monster in the industry that regulators have a duty to help Microsoft defeat, lol. It won't work based on the cloud concerns being the main focus, but they might be trying to paint the deal as doing more good than harm.

It'd be great news if true, but Jizz Corden being the rumour monger doesn't give it any credibility. This is the guy who heard PlayStation signed an exclusivity deal with Larian for BG3 before Larian themselves came out to correct him.

I don't get why sony just doesn't buy these ip up already
Konami would never sell it's a gold mine, but annoyingly they have been way to slow to do anything with them.

Even though we don't know the exact deals sony have made and assuming if there is any truth to this, it does seem like they are helping the revival of these ips somehow.

To be fair, he wasn't saying that as a rumor. He just saw that Xbox wasn't in the announcement and threw a fit, assuming Sony had a deal.

Nobody will care. MS could simply outbid it.
The xbots will and do care. They are already making comparisons between MS buying ABK and Sony doing deals with Konami.

"buh buh it's ok when Sony do it?!?!"

When they announced the Bluepoint acquisition, Bluepoint already mentioned that they weren't working in any remake or remaster, and that instead they were going to work in 'original content'.

The first one was God of War Ragnarok, that they codeveloped as support team. They are a small team, so I think it's highly unlikely that they would be working in other game that would be ready to be shown soon.

If they are, then it will fail, because unless Sony have been draconian and strong-arming 3P publishers into exclusivity deals the way Nintendo did in the '80s with Famicom/NES, then there is nothing anticompetitive about what they're doing. They pay less for these deals because they have more market share. They have more market share because they've provided a better offering to gamers who in turn purchased their console a lot more than Microsoft's.

It's not like they're paying less because they have a dominant market share in TVs, smartphones, cloud or PC OSes or some other market completely isolated from PlayStation's line of business. But Microsoft are looking to buy ABK, a primarily console games publisher, due to their huge revenue streams from markets not related to console gaming. Whether people like it or not, that does come into consideration and is a factor in determining the potential of that acquisition being anticompetitive or not.

In a way the CMA even agreed with these people because they not only dropped the console SLC concerns, but even said partial foreclosure on PlayStation would not cause major concern. So they actually were on their side on this point! The crybabies are just angry that the concerns stretch beyond console, justifiably so in part of Microsoft's own stated goals in the gaming space which span back years. And Microsoft's market share arguments in console don't work for them in the cloud space (or other spaces like PC OS, and arguably game middleware frameworks), ironically enough.

This is a key difference with a lot of the third party exclusives Sony seems to nab. A stark contrast from every acquisition MS has been doing in recent years. EVERY game they count as "exclusive" now was just a third party title. Psychonauts, Bethesda stuff, the attempt at ABK etc ... pathetic.

Yup, if true this pretty much ought to do it.
Sony would have to lock down GTA 6 for awhile to deal a death blow to Xbox at this stage, let's be real. And that's not gonna happen.

Problem is GTA6 will still sell gazillion on xbox. Buying Bethesda would've been cheaper than a GTA deal.

Imagine the plot twist if Dead Rising reboot is Xbox exclusive and Castlevania/MGS is multiplatform. All their outrage will evaporate so fast the thread won't reach 5 pages (Konami is already at 13)

I get that. I was more implying to the comment. Only a game like GTA 6 could deal a death blow to the Xbox brand currently. These games will make small dents but that's it.
