Cloud mobile game lol? It has nothing to do with mobile.. Also if you didn't notice Death Stranding was an experiment in cloud...

Thats what it was rumored as, when the big overdose leak happened in summer. that it was a game running on phones via cloud tech

Yeah, it's just part of a corporate tour.
At most, they negotiated more deals with Kojima.

That guy ain't selling out.

I dont think kojima is big enough for that

If that's what it would take to get Kojima, I'd buy the studio or hire them for a long term contract. Kojima usually gets his way, and when he doesn't you get MGS V. I would rather give them 50 to 100M to produce a game, with a 4 or 5 year game contract, because overall they will be games that stand the test of time, will sell enough to be profitable and Kojima has a lot of talent that can help PS Studios.

Just look at "Decima" and how his team grabbed it and improved upon it, something Guerrilla then benefited from.

Visiting Kojima was just a part of being present in Japan. Urata, Jimbo, Lin Tao are still their because for a further reason. November will be interesting. 👀

But might work for someone who doesn’t want to be totally bought out and stay independent like Kojima mentioned before

Kojima needs a leash. I partly blame MGSV on him… keep in mind MGSV is what I think is one of the best sandbox action games of all time. But still … dude is like George Lucas … unlimited budgets and Kojima will get pissed away thru his obsession with hiring Hollywood talent. And then there won’t be money to finish the game…

And no I don’t think his games are big enough for complete creative control and independence. Being a PlayStation studio with Sony’s superior game management is best.

A working relationship with Kojima and Sony has been around for decades. It’s a perfect fit.

I’m finally revisiting death stranding again… right time… I’m a bit worn out of the action games I enjoy because they require 3 cups of coffee and 6 hours every Saturday morning. Heh. I want to love it. I started over tho… let’s see how long it takes this time before I get sick of being a mailman….

While I agree, I dont think he wants to be on a leash.
Like he said 6 months ago? He said they want to stay independent or doesn’t want to sell or something similar? Also work on movies and music etc

Kojima doesn’t make sense to acquire. If Kojima retires, the unique creativity of him will also be lost. Just a partnership is enough.

Kojima Productions is a studio that has been around for a long time and is more than just Kojima. It may outlive him. Game design culture can be retained within a studio as they grow and groom future talent. It’s actually quite valuable; especially after Fox Engine.

I’m sure Sony is also offering Hollywood/movie deals to him. I mean, you know Kojima wants that. It makes a lot of sense if it were to happen. Everything Sony is doing is tied to potential cross media blockbusters now that we’ve exhausted comic book IPs in Hollywood. They need something new… it’s video game IPs… the time is now.

(Pls also acquire castlevania and mgs from Konami and we’re golden)

I've been disappointed with Kojima since MGS4, so I hope Sony puts their money elsewhere.

Kojima will be in his 60’s by the time Death Stranding 2 comes out, I agree that it doesn’t make sense to buy Kojima Productions™ at this point. Sign him to a multi game deal and be done with it.
