Sony needs more Japanese studios for PS Studios. Problem is if Sony don’t buy them and the games are successful, then possible someone snatch them away. Can’t tell you the source but it’s gonna happen like I reported you. Sony definitely needs more 1st Party Japanese studios.
Sony already has a shit ton of Japanese exclusives (1st+2nd+3rd party exclusives including indies) plus basically every single multiplatform Japanese game. Most Japanese devs publish their games on PS, there are almost no big Japanse 3rd party exclusive for Switch or Xbox outside the timed console exclusive ones. Basically all of them support PS even with at least an exclusive in the last generation.
They will continue buying studios, but there is no particular reason of why they should be Japanese. If something they could acquire Capcom or Square to secure a big 1st party presence on certain strategically key genres where they aren't big to protect them from being acquired by someone like MS or Nintendo who could keep them away from PS, but that is all.
See? I told you.
Unseen the first one in the list showing up, JPGames, Mutan Insight and Bokeh were studios I mentioned, that Sony will buy in 2023.
It's only the guy in charge of supporting 3RD PARTY INDIE games visiting an indie studio. It only means Sony may support their indie games, maximum to get an exclusive. Not to sign a 2nd party game or to buy them, which is something done by other people.
Sony via Yoshida may support these indie teams you mention giving them exposure or signing some kind of marketing deal or even a (console timed?) exclusive, they are a good fit to get the support from PlayStation Indies. But they are all somewhat unproven teams with leads who -with maybe the exception of Tabata, who made Crysis Core or FFXV that were successful but not top SE games and FFXV development was so troubled- even if known by some of us never released a big seller game.
These teams are different from cases like Kojipro or Haven, where they came from teams who made several top hits and in addition of the PR star a big chunk of the key staff of the new team was in the previous team.
I think all the teams you mention will get the support from Yoshida, and maximum some of them may or may not sign a 3rd party console timed exclusive, not more than that.
