if they invest half of this money on PlayStation that would already be enough to get Arrowhead, Ballistic Moon, Shift Up and a medium size publisher like Kadowaka or Square Enix

They aren't buying shift up. Ten cent has a stake in shift up and shift is working on a 2nd mobile game for them tencebr which they are committed to supporting cor yrs. Ps isn't going to buy a studio obligated to work on someone else ip for yrs. PS doesn't need to buy square either if all square has to offer right now is ff. Arrow head and ballistic moon they could get relatively cheap. Both those studios have no ip and are small teams.

The thing is that is should be enough if the brands were maintained and at an all time high in term of relevance but FF has been anything but that. The lack of no main stay spin-offs like DQ has had to help between big mainline releases is one key issue the FF IP has faced in recent times.

Tbh if Square Enix didn't have FFXIV, things would be really dire.
From almost dooming Square with the OG version to saving it, wild stuff.

DQ has some decent selling spin-offs and the IP is constantly being used but their issue is the reverse in that that the mainline DQs take forever and that's bad for reccuring revenue.
Persona 6 and DQXII really out there, looking eachother, to see who's going to take longer between entries.

Kadokawa is investing in FromSoft and their ability to self-publish, they're literally doing a strategy that is the complete opposition to selling.
They're betting on themselves after the humongous success of Elden Ring.
Armored Core 6 is also FromSoft's best selling AC game.

That is not an argument. Where is the proof, or even the evidence, that Square would be better under Sony?

They would likely sell on less platforms. Would be open to being shut down, reorganized, etc. They are far better off being responsible for their own success. The fact people are not learning this fact after seeing what's happening with all of these consolidations is mind boggling to me. The industry is much healthier with a higher number of smaller independent companies rather than a few large ones. Stop advocating for platform holders to suck up all of the IP and developers.

Guys I remember when they were going to spend 18 billion. I remember thinking for sure square was a shoe in, even if that’s all playststion got from it. Didn’t happen. We got abunch of no name, no Ip studios and bungie. My point is don’t get your hopes up for anything good.

This and the fact that exclusives in general are usually a better product than multiplatform games, are currently the only reasons for Sony buying SE, as SE have been struggling for a while both with their custom engines and 3rd party ones. But seeing how PlayStation is currently managing their studios, I doubt we would see any improvements.
