Imagine a generation where the Switch 2 doesn't have the same impact as the original (DS>3DS or Wii>Wii U) or Nintendo for whatever reason ports their games to PC. The reactions on this site would be funny to see.
Nintendo is not that dumb, they won't put their games on PC, you can keep dreaming tho

I think it's safe to assume the vast majority of that is coming from Helldivers 2 and Destiny 2, but healthy contribution over time from the PC catalog that continues to sell throughout the year. It's consistent cash flow.

You say the issue here is for console health, but this latest update reflects that MAUs are still up and they're well on pace to hit their forecast if not exceed it. Exceeding it would put them beyond the PS4 LTD.

This is a bad report for you and your dooming.
a consistent cash flow? interesting

Well, people (including you i bet) said the same about Sony not too long ago.

Sooo, who knows?
about sony? i did, but Nintendo plays their game intelligently, they won't sacrifice their long term goal for short term LITTLE, VERY LITTLE profits, it would take them 3 Wii U generations to become a third party publisher and that won't ever happen

there's no profit growth driven by PC ports, specifically for singleplayer titles, the only thing PC ports serve is to devalue the console, they're barely paying for the ports to be made with what they make from these sales
The PC ports of Horizon remake & Until Dawn likely didn’t even recoup seeing how low they did. The numbers those PC ports did where concord level & the PC port initiative overall as time pass have seen a trend of games doing worse & worse. Every sequel has done worse then the previous & im talking like over 50% worse in tracking, the PC port aren’t even stabilizing outside of the few exciting like Ghost because it was the first & likely others like GT7 & the PS Fromsoft games that would perform good outside those anything else is seeing decreased numbers unless there a multilayer game that gets lucky like Helldivers 2. Which is why PS PC infinitive & mobile should only be multiplayer/live service games & that’s a a few caveats depending on the franchise/title. GT7, LBP, PS home should always be on only on PS & maybe explore mobile but GT on mobile should be a water down gacha version like what Nintendo done w Mario Kart on mobile making it clear if you want to play the real deal you get a Nintendo console.

PC users bought Horizon Zero Dawn in 2020 to push Sony to release the whole slate on PC, once they got what they wanted, even a studio internally designated for the ports, they're pirating the games... that's the hard reality here, but hey... keep em coming, hope they port AstroBot to Steam too, give Valve all games possible for the Steam Deck

Nintendo may play their game intelligently now but Nintendo also has a track record of screwing up every other gen.

"Won't ever happen"? People said the same about Sony. How they would never be this stupid etc. Yet, here we are.

Soooo, yeah. Let's just wait and see.

gonna be really interesting to watch PS6 sales closely, they won't have a new GTA title to lean on
GTA6 will save PS5 but PS6 will have to take the action made in PS5 directly. Even as you look at PS6 & PS7 it’s very likely Switch 2 & 3 will play all 3rd party game day 1 & the performance will be similar if not exact as PS console as there will be less in return pushing power in the future which your already seeing & ai/cloud boosting performance for cheap

isn't Sony saying they want to have at least one tentpole release every holiday?

Maybe they did.

But that doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of holiday sales come from casuals who are looking for cheap COD/Fifa/Madden bundles. So, if Sony wants to increase sales during the holidays, they need a price drop and/or bundles. Exclusives would help of course but they need a price drop more than anything else.

Hardcore gamers are waiting for exclusives to jump over. They don't care about the season. Casual gamers and families do care a lot tho, since holidays means heavy price discounts.

well, they surely won't have COD bundles anymore, that's for sure, good luck with that casual audience

PS7 and Switch 3? Let's go further and look into PS8 and Switch 4 while we're at it. How can you guys make predictions that are so far away? Especially, in the gaming space, where a single generation can change everything for better or worse.

that won't happen with the Switch, they created a desirable product with a desirable catalog of games that will be backwards compatible, they found the perfect hybrid, they won't ever have another Wii U type of generation again, but have fun hoping that they do, they'll surpass PS2 in a couple of months

Nintendo literally made there music under there own wall garden subscription not only adding more value to the console & subscription owners but having control of there music + 100% of the income where of it was on apple or spotify it would have to share a cut. And if Nintendo could make a Nintendo storefront on mobile devices it would keep its Nintendo mobile game exclusive on the Nintendo mobile storefront to make 100% cuts & have control/ensuring there games can’t be pulled of like what happen to Helldivers 2 on Steam.

The way COD is selling on PS5 compared to Xbox and PC? Wouldn't be surprised if MS starts doing Playstation bundles as early as next year.

To be fair talks were in they would, Switch was a last shot. Nintendo built up reserves with the Switch gen so they can handle a bump now. (which Sony is trying to obviously extract a large reserve from PS as well in the remainder of this gen at the detriment of other factors).

I havn't checked anything yet coming back from the gym but 65,5 is good, Q2 is pretty much on target. If they have a regular holiday season numbers, wo a tentpole title but with the discount and Fornite promo, they'll go over 70-72 at the end of Q3. Guesstimate of 75ish or closer to 80 (will depend on what MH going to push) is a great spot for them at the end of the fiscal knowing what's coming in 2025.

341M $ in revenue, not even profit, with:

- Destiny, fully multiplatform and GaaS (didn't they launch a new expansion this year?)
- Helldivers 2, day-1 PC and GaaS
- Concord, day-1 PC and GaaS
- MLB, fully multiplatform and GaaS
- Until Dawn & Horizon Remakes/Remasters, day-1 on PC
- Ports of tentpole games like H:FW, Ragnarök and GoT
- "Free cash flow" (<- LOL) of previously released ports

Seems like PlayStation survived another quarter....

Those days are over. Sony wants that 30% royalty.

Maybe they do a GTA6 bundle, especially with PS5 Pro, but CoD's days are numbered when it comes to bundling and marketing deals.

Sony is in an ideal situation where they don't need to overspend to compete with Microsoft.
