Sony have no plan to release any major (established) franchise titles this year (April 2024- March 2025)

They can still release new IPs, that slide is about existing franchises and the 25 millions target was always too high. 21 millions is still great.

This thread is very negative after they had a record-breaking Q3, the highest ever in PS history by far. Focus on that 💁‍♂️
What's there to be positive about when it comes first party studios?

The 25 million target wasn't too high, it's what they did 2022 - 2023 that made it a hard target

what a disaster, other than insomniac we're approaching xbox first party levels of mismanagement

The quote is about existing major franchises, those were never in the cards

Spider-Man 2 was 2023
GoW:R and Horizon Forbidden West was 2022
Gran Turismo was 2022
Naughty Dog Factions is donezo(their forecast was probably 2024 for that game)

What's left really?

GoT would've been the closest to being ready but Expansion/Director's Cut was 2021, still too early in the current triple A landscape.

Ah i see its that time of year again.

WTF IS SONY DOING - Continues to sell hardware and software
WHERE ARE ALL THE GAMES - Continues to make Money Year over Year

Have people not learned yet. Sony does not "need" to make and publish "major" titles to sell well and continue to sell.
Do "major" titles help? Yes, but they don't need them to sell consoles (at this point)
2nd and 3rd party titles sell consoles also, have people already forgot FF7Rebirth? Helldivers2 (You know the game that's currently selling and breaking records)?

Also just to say at the end of this we have no idea what is going to get said tomorrow only rumors about Xbox titles coming to PS / Switch so those if any will increase salls also.
As you have to relies that if Xbox is moving games over to Sony, Sony will know as Microsoft would have had to get DevKits months ago.

So chill, relax and WoooOoSaaa

Also even their high CCU GaaS successes will also tangentially lower revenue being day 1 on PC. I bought Helldivers on Steam and now Sony loses out on the 30% cut of microtransactions I would've been spending on their system.

It's a vicious cycle they've started. One that we know the trajectory of thanks to Xbox sales.

if the leaks are right, they'll port more than 5 games to PC just in 2024, they're going to absolutely DESTROY this console i'm telling you
I'd they release any ports this year, other than live service stuff, they will absolutely kill the console.

Imagine being the biggest and the best only to follow second place to ruin.

1 - Horizon Forbidden West
2 - Until Dawn (Remake)
3 - Demon's Souls
4 - Ghost Of Tsushima
5 - The Last Of Us Part II

they're absolutely killing PlayStation, meanwhile we, console players have absolutely nothing from first party studios

we're going from October 2023 til April 2025 with no AAA singleplayer first party games and PC folks getting 5+ games
Don't worry, spin doctors are already saying that missing sales targets by 4M is ok, and this is not a problem.

Same as xbots, only dressed in blue.

If they do release those ports this year, I'll just get an RTX 4070 or above and fully commit to PC, no need for a PS5.

What do they expect with no big first parties, besides Insomniac wtf are these studios even doing?
I can answer this quite easily: they are or were stuck working on either full live service games or live service components for their single player games, courtesy of the dynamic duo Jimmy and Hermie.

the true effects from this PC initiative will really start to show significant harm in the PS6 generation, everything PS4/5 will be playable on PC and i bet they'll try to release a singleplayer game on PC day and date this generation, Until Dawn will probably be the first one, they'll test to see it, when PS6 arrives, the time for them to port will probably shrink to 6 months

Awful…. So nothing for the 2nd half of the year? No Concord either? No Death Stradning 2, no Wolverine.

And dont tell me games take longer than before. Bluepoint created Demons Souls in 2 years. Insomniac has made multiple games too.

Like i posted else where, we’ve only had 2 real PS5 exclusives from the Internal studios/ PS studios.

Demons Souls and Spiderman 2. Everything else can be bought on PS4 or PC

Compared to the first 4 years of PS4:

Bloodborne ( Sony owned IP not like ROR)
Uncharted 4
Infamous 2nd son
Killzone ( ok this sucked big time )
Knack
Driveclub
Little big planet 3
Infamous 1st light
The Order
Teraway
Last of Us left behind
The Last Guardian
Ratchet and Clank

And all the smaller games from smaller studios and Japan studios like Hohokum, little fat princess, entwined,
Thats just till 2016.

2017- same as 2024
Horizon Zero Dawn
Uncharted Lost Legacy
GT Sports
Gravity Rush 2
Wipeout
Knack 2
EveryBody's Golf

This doesnt include 3rd party exclusives or remasters like TLOU Remaster, Resogun, Helldivers, Nioh, Yakuza etc

And we knew games like God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Shadow of the Colossus remake and Spiderman were coming

Ah someone with a brain understand how Sony losing big money going to Steam in the long run. Day 1 Gaas/Multiplayer games I can kinda undestand even though I dont like it. But single player games shouldnt be anywhere near PC, maybe 5-10 years after launch for a couple of games.

And if people like me leave to PC, thats thousands and thousands spent on 3rd party games that could of been on PSN. Since PS games are now going to PC, my brother and 2 friends wallets are being spent on Steam instead of PSN.
