Xbox is selling like shit everywhere and they don't even get these headlines. They get praise from Wall Street Journal instead. They are redefining gaming

So what?

If there's anything we've all learned within the past couple of months, it's that access media has absolutely zero power over gamer choices and purchases.

These articles are also not going to budge Sony's decisions. Those guys kept saying Sony was going to be left behind by not offering a service like Gamepass with day one releases, and then Sony just proved them wrong. Sony only cares about their own market research for these things, they don't usually cede to external pressures.


So what are you afraid of? If you think the PS5 Pro is such a good product with nice appeal and offers decent value, then you should just buy one and be confident it's only going to improve Sony's stand in the market.
It shouldn't matter that Xbox is paying access media to shit on the new console, they're irrelevant. The only ones who matter are the gamers who spend their money.

Their Singleplayer Games can sell 20 Millions on a single Platform, with no cuts.

Sony does not need to sell PC games in console numbers in order to generate operating income....

People really seem to struggle with this.

If the core audience accepts the fact that GaaS need a concurrent PC release in order to be successful but not from SP, they might pivot to that kind of games instead (like they already did).

I'm not reading all of op's op, the first two paragraphs are enough to say that he's wrong. The PS5 is being graded against the PS4, its immediate predecessor, the Switch and the Xbox Series. The fact that it comes in third is no-one's fault but their own. Nobody but themselves made most of their first party output crossgen for two-three years. Nobody but them had Bend and Naughty Dog spend years on whatever with no game to show for it. Nobody but them picked such an ugly design for PS5's shell and sued third parties that tried to fix it, nobody but them stuck a bunch of left-wing politics into Spiderman. Its on them just as Nintendo's success is on their team and Xbox's failure is on its.
