Is Microsoft buying media though? All we have to go from that is one quote from the HeisenbergFX guy who I remember well from posting fake specs for the PS5 on Neogaf before it released.

Besides, does Microsoft really need to buy media to shit on Playstation right now? Step outside IconEra for one minute and you'll see pretty much everyone but Dorito Pope shitting on the PS5 Pro pretty hard.
It sure doesn't look like Microsoft did anything worse to Sony than Sony did to themselves
We have consistently biased gaming journalism for years to go with. Microsoft has been controlling western gaming media for years, don't use recent Sony fuck ups to disprove it.

Whenever Sony fucks up, controlled media smplifies it. When MS fucks up, they cover it up. It's that simple.

I disagree with the PC comparisons being hit pieces lacking genuine thoughts.

The value proposition for the home console has always been that you get exclusive games, pay a lot less for the hardware and it's easier to set up, but then make up for it in increased software costs throughout the years.

The moment Sony decides to end the subsidized / low-margins hardware model, starts releasing their games on PC and a better performing gaming PC gets closer to the console in cost, plus UX solutions like Steam Big Picture exist, it's time to start questioning if the value for using consoles is still there.

Sure, most pre-built PCs are crap and building a DIY PC isn't something everyone is keen of doing, but that issue is one Valve's move away from being a problem an issue at all.

This question would have been posed equally if Microsoft decided to release a 800€ digital-only console or a 920€ console with disc drive. Actually it would have gained even more traction because Microsoft's 1st parties release on PC day-one and both platforms get the same gamepass subscription service.
Microsoft is absolutely buying the media lol, as is every other trillion dollar corporation worth their salt. Microsoft does it, Apple does it, Google does it, Intel does it, the entirety of the defense industry does it, big 3 auto does it, big oil does it. Sometimes it's cash, sometimes it's in intangibles like influence and access. Like... do we not remember the yellow chair fiasco? Or this?

you really think they stopped? LOL

(hint: they haven't)

Apples to oranges really.

HFW was on PS+. That's where I played it. I bought the DLC, Burning Shores though.

Hellblade had to be a good game for people to care, and it wasn't exclusive to exbox.
HFW was on PS+ a year later. The initial sales should have exploded after being on PC for years. Franchise growth, remember? This is what everyone is parroting. Reach more customers.

Where are they? Even if you count all the PS+ players it's still not higher than the total sales of HZD.

The PC port also came out this year and sold less (you can't blame PS+ there). It sold like half and the CCU was below the first. No growth again. The strategy is failing already.

Lego Horizon is supposed to break all records with that imaginary "growth" you speak of 🤭

PS5 really does have the best cadence of high rated first and 3rd party exclusives. Its the only platform that got 2 major Final Fantasy games 8 months apart.

The claim that there’s nothing to play on PS5 from Twitter YouTube Xbox and PC fanboys, along with the media sites, keeps being pushed so much you know there’s some paid astroturfing going on. There’s has been so many PS5 exclusives release this year from AA games like Pacific Drive, to big games like Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, and FF Rebirth to name a few. For these people to ignore all of these games to run with a false agenda shows there’s something seriously wrong with game journalism.

all Microsoft released was hellblade 2 also people talking about them having no games when Microsoft had only one new game release in 2024 and everyone forgot about it both Nintendo and Sony practically dominated all of 2024 and also closed down their best studio with high fi rush and the pubg devs had to swoop in and buy them

BlackOsiris was just a clown, fake insider, full of shit.

actually Heisenbergfx04 who gave right TF numbers, as he said his contact said that PS5 is weaker than xbox and is around 10TF, while others said that PS5 is 14TF etc.
This is not how I remember it, but you could be right.

In a "dry year," Sony has put out more successful games via publishing or 3rd parties than Microsoft has since 2020...

I can only imagine what people would say if Sony had a year like Microsoft has this year.

MS had successful games since 2020?

The point of the post was the games aren't always that high, it's because of the sale sir.

But they are generally high.

Ghost of Tsushima was one of the best selling games when it released on Steam.

God of War Ragnarok is already 14th on the list during pre-orders.

Destiny Final Shape was very high on the list as was Helldivers all before sales...

I don't see why Destiny is being included here lol

And get back to us after the sale is over or so... Sony games are not selling well on PC on a regular day

Between this and the guy who made thread after thread protesting against IGN and everyone else who showed any hint of criticism towards the PS5 Pro and some even saying the US Department of Justice should get involved, my opinion is that yes: there's a bit of too much shilling in IconEra.
Just not in Xbox's favor.
Tell me this is normal from a big publication?

Xbox is selling like shit everywhere and they don't even get these headlines. They get praise from Wall Street Journal instead. They are redefining gaming 😂

Those are Live-Service Games, which PC-Gamers are obsessed with. (And can't pirate!).

There was a leak last year, of their SP-Games sales.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn - 3.3M
  • God Of War - 2.5m
  • Days Gone - 1.7m
  • Spider-Man Remastered - 1.3m
  • Uncharted - 483.2k
  • Miles Morales - 450.2K
  • Sackboy - 62.9k

Most of those are only 5-10% of the life-time sales, with steam taking a cut out of it, and at lower price.

For comparison:

Uncharted 4 sold 15+ Million on PS4, against the Collection selling not even 500k on PC.
God of war sold 23 Million.
Horizon Zero Dawn sold 24 Million.
Spider Man sold 20 Million.

Their PC-Sales are not worth much, for Singleplayer Games.

Cut the cord, no need for more ports. It's fine with MP games like Helldivers 2 though.

Sony does not need to sell PC games in console numbers in order to generate operating income....

People really seem to struggle with this.

It's like saying why work a gig job if it doesn't pay as much as your primary job. It's for extra cash.
