What are you going to do when they start releasing single player games day and date on PC? They are already releasing GaaS and announcing them as PC/PS5 games.

GaaS games going day 1 on PC has been known for years now. Remasters of old games are case by case. Until Dawn is day 1, The Last of Us and Uncharted weren't. New single player sequels and IPs are a couple of years after the console release.

Same old strategy as before. Nothing has changed.

Keep dreaming.
some executive is finally going to say "look at the numbers from our day-and-date multiplayer games, why are we leaving that money on the table with our single player games? go day-and-date with all of it!" and that's when the strategy will change

If Sony was smart they would not port there games to PC to maximize game sells, console sells & subscription sells something they aren’t doing currently.

What’s interesting is that Sony wanted to buy Gearbox. It would make sense since Sony would be double downing in the looter genre which is great for the live service model & monetizing the game. Even Borderlands has been hit or miss similar to Destiny the franchise holds a hardcore fanbase & if they fix all the issue in the issue like removing Randy pitchfork weird ass I think the talent alone has made a couple of good games w great gameplay. Borderlands 3 story was ehh a little annoying but the gameplay has always been on point imo. TT Wonderlands was a great game fun gameplay but its live service wasn’t plan well & the endgame was no where to be found.

Gearbox being a target for acquisition could show Sony wanting to buy studios who has experience w live service & own an existing ip to have the ball rolling. Is borderlands 4 releasing 2024 or 2025?

Btw Gearbox would not be a studio I’d put at the top of acquisition targets not even top 10 there’s other studio that Sony needs to fill in (fighting, arcade racer, looter rpg, 1st person/3rd person military shooter, mobile.

Thing is we can argue this until we’re blue in the face but this is the second time now they’ve reiterated the exact same strategy. GaaS day one, single player, whatever makes sense. Consoles are a core tenant of the PlayStation brand and they’re not going to jeapordize that now unless something drastically changes, which by most accounts, things are looking fine. The argument of “executives are gonna override this” doesn’t make sense when the executives are the ones pushing this strategy. It honestly just comes across as needless fearmongering because there’s nothing to substantiate this stance.

It proves that games are being developed in parallel to work on PC to the point that they had a playable segment already working on PC. These aren't ports anymore, they won't hold back games just so you guys aren't offended, they'll release them as soon as possible because money has more valuable now than in the future, they don't need two different market campaigns, etc.

So what? Being developed parallel doesn't mean it will release simultaneously on PC. And also, using Wolverine as an example is a pathetic because it is a stolen code.
