Well I don’t want to burst your bubble but God of War Ragnarök sold over 11 million copies after 3 months. It’s more than possible FFXVI reaching 10 million units. Maybe not in 3 months but it’s possible in a year only on PS5.
Based on UK, PAL, and Japan charts, it's already trailing behind when it comes to legs against FFXV and FF7R.
UK = 37% behind FF7R
GSD = 20% behind FF7R
Japan = 55% behind FF7R

GOWR has consistently charted since its launch day, which is the total opposite of what's currently happening to FFXVI.
An example of GOWR monstrous legging in the UK

[Week 45, 2022] God of War Ragnarök - 145,000 / 145,000 (NEW)
[Week 46, 2022] God of War Ragnarök - 39,000 / 184,000 (-73%)
[Week 47, 2022] God of War Ragnarök - 35,000 / 219,000 (-??%)
[Week 48, 2022] God of War Ragnarök - 37,000 / 256,000 (+7%)
[Week 49, 2022] God of War Ragnarök - 49,000 / 305,000 (+32%)
[Week 50, 2022] God of War Ragnarök - 38,000 / 343,000 (-23%)

vs

[Week 25, 2023] Final Fantasy XVI - 31,400 /31,400 (NEW)
[Week 26, 2023] Final Fantasy XVI - 6,900 / 38,300 (-78%)
[Week 27, 2023] Final Fantasy XVI - >3500 (-??%)
[Week 28, 2023] Final Fantasy XVI - >2000 (-??%) Already out of top 10

I agree Ryu and co are more well know than Cloud and co but the comparisons stop here…

Cloud and co are way more know than RE’s characters or any other Capcom franchise outside Street Fighter.
Megaman?

That is a holiday release vs a June release. I suspect Spiderman 2 will take pride of place for the holiday season but FFXVI will have long legs as wom spreads.

FF7R had 3 times bigger install size. Plus better release date and game it self is was a remake of most sold FF to date, so hype and fanbase base was enormous.

So, 300% bigger install size for average 37% bigger sales? Pathetic.

FF XVI will eventually get the Ragnarok treatment from Sony in a few months. Irs obvious both parties went light with the bundles route to recoup all money upfront. This game should have a long tailwind if Playstation gets behind it the way they did Horizon Forbidden West and Ragnarok.

Ragnarok is a cross gen release. Its blockbuster sales and pace have a number of factors to thank including over 150 million consoles that could play it.

FF16 isn’t as big of a release or as a good as Ragnarok. It won’t match it. No fucking way. I’d like to see it match and surpass FF7r but I have some doubts. I think it’ll sorta get kneecapped by 7R part 2 coming out too soon.

GOWR charted higher than FFXVI in last week's chart. FFXVI has typical JRPG legs, which is very front-loaded.

I don't know I have the feeling Magamen was not in the same level of "know" as Street Fighter.
It was popular in the past for sure but I don't think it was not pupular like SF or FF.
I even believes that Resident Evil become more pupular than Megaman through time.
Sadly Magamen is basically dead noways :(

I loved the games.

Square said they have an 18 months plan…
I think one or two DLCs are planned and probably part of the strategy to keep interest in FFXVI afloat. After that 18 months probably the PC version will launch. Would be similar to FF7R. 18 months PS5 exclusive plus DLC and later PC port.

What part of my post did you not understand? You posted chart positions for a title released during the holiday season and compared them to a title releasing during the typical summer drought.

I was mostly talking about fame, not sales. Truth is Megaman has always been a niche seller. I feel like even in the NES days it sold well but not overwhelmingly so and its all downhill from there.
