I wonder if, by posting a picture like that, they hope to just lure people in who don't do any research before they buy games? Or is it just for bragging rights for their extreme fans? It does fit Phil and XBox's 'optics over quality' characteristic, though.

Maybe. It just indicates a lack of confidence to sell your game on its own merits to me. And a less than respectful attitude towards your audience, as well.
sure. i think Bethesda/Xbox really, really wanted for this game to reach 90 on Meta...and it failed.

Why do people put so much emphasis on these stats?

Theres 25 million GP subscribers.

6 million downloaded it.

I mean come on it’s not the same as 5 million buying a copy of a 70 dollar game.

Xbox and Xbox fanboys are so so desperate to get their killer app.

Something to shift the tide towards their favour and not Sony/Nintendo.

Unfortunately Starfield isn’t it.

Not sure what game from Xbox will be this gen.

I don't doubt that at all. But they had to have known what they were shipping, the problems that were there - it reminds me of Redfall. Didn't Phil say internal reviews were higher? Both games, Starfield and Redfall, received the luxury of having XBox-centric sites give them inflated scores too. I find this attitude frustrating. If you want a game with a 90 level on Meta, then make a 90 game. Or, at least, sincerely attempt to.

6 million players makes a lot more sense. Now Phil can say it was a successful launch (in xbox terms, anyways)

of course they knew. (thus the withheld of review codes form certain outlets).

For the other aspect i think is because Behtesda is not fully integrated with Xbox. Bethesda has its own marketing. which could explain why Phil wasn't aware of the actual situation (and of course he is incompetent as well). Remember that the review embargo for redfall was the day of the lauch (they knew they had a shittie game).

Yeah I don't believe 5.75 million people played it on gamepass while 250k only were on steam.
Like it doesn't balance at all.

Peak concurrent does not indicate total users for the day. It’s just how many people are logged into it simultaneously within a 1-3 hour snapshot.

So the stuff about Fallout 4 selling 12m- 14m in 1 day was always a lie ? I mean I knew it was, but it's not even close to 14m....why did Bethesda never correct this and let that rumor spread?
12 million was shipment at launch.
Said that I think they are lying about biggest Bethesda launch in a Microsoft way due the low Steam numbers.

But hey even if the data are somehow a “lie” you can be sure that Fallout 4 made over $500 million at launch while Starfield will barely made $100 million at launch.

I guess the truth is whatever suits them at any given moment. Who even knows or should really care.

The shenanigans around this stuff are all so tiresome. The number of grown ass adults acting like children over everything involved in this hobby is wild.

Also, Starfield blows.
