You like mediocre games and that’s fine.
The probability that I've liked a few mediocre games is pretty high, you probably have as well. I wish Starfield could realistically be judged to be mediocre, I'd like to live in a world where I could easily access games of this calibre.

You can, on gamepass. Only 10.99 per month.

Mediocrity awaits.

This is the perspective people are not getting. BG3 could have probably reached 2M day one if it were released on PS5 simultaneously.

Starfield reaching 1M when Gamepass exists, and being on both XB and PC, is a disaster.
If a game you thought favorably of had the hate campaign Starfield had you’d most certainly factor it in. Can you at least pretend to be unbiased? No one even brought up BG3.

Starfield is at 312k CCU, which is "good" but imagine the outrage last week if people predicted below 400k. They would be attacked until ban. It was a given it would top BG3, no questions about it.

BG3 is at 457k right now 😬

The "hate campaign" after people started playing this turd was cancelled by the unprecedented astroturfing right before release. Never in the history of video games a game had this many shills, fanboys and professional media blatantly astroturfing for a title.

A Guiness for the history books.

And even with all that, the game is receiving negative press because it’s bad. Biggest failure of this year.

I was trying to think of the "hate campaign" this game received and I got nothing. Spot on about the astroturfing, though, and I think that's one of the reasons there's push back now. From the usual lies from Todd and Phil, the inflated reviews from Xbox sites, and the non-stop shilling across social media and forums - it's no wonder people are unhappy that it's just yet another Bethesda game - with all the negatives and positives that implies. As well, MS trying to create a picture of success over an actually successful/great game is par for the course. Not seeing much hate, just people rightfully fed up with this bs and the execs who think their valuable customers are stupid.

Let’s be honest, MS customers ARE stupid.

You call great games mediocre, that's not fine, introspect.
You had to have played like 3 games tops if you think Starfield is a great game. Other than having high res textures and slightly more polished shooting mechanics it's worse in every way than previous bethesda titles (besides fo76)

I've played plenty of games. I hope you've finished Starfield or played enough missions to declare it the worst action RPG among BGS titles. I'm still playing it so I can't make such a declaration. So far, I'm finding a lot to love in the game, I think I prefer the Space setting to the post-apocalyptic setting of Fallout.

From my experience with the game, I think you are vastly underselling the improvement of shooting mechanics. Guns fire better, and the enemys' reactions to being hit are so much better. You are also much more mobile as a character making different playstyles with guns much more viable in Starfield compared to Fallout. Stand out for me is the jet pack, on what booster mod you have on your pack you have very different sorts of gunfights, it's kind of like the Titan, Warlock or Hunter jump in Destiny.

The reason you think it's so much improved is because Bethesda had the worst shooting in the industry, the gunplay was indie level garbage in their previous games and that's an insult to higher quality indie games. But compared to the rest of the industry the shooting is still below average. The guns lack impact, there's no recoil (despite the guns being animated to seem like they recoil), enemies don't react realistically to being shot.
