The problem is our fancy 4k oled teles are designed for high frame rates and refresh rates. 30fps starfield on a 4k tv will have bad frame pacing, screen tearing effect and laggy controller imput even with vrr implemented it's below the tv specs for 4k gaming.

Digital Foundry to Microsoft's rescue.

Xbox fanatics have harassed John for years, it feels like he is constantly trying to placate them.

"Todd Howard: Always these huge, open worlds, fully dynamic, hyper detail where anything can happen. And we do want to do that. It's 4K in the X. It's 1440 on the S. We do lock it at 30, because we want that fidelity, we want all that stuff. We don't want to sacrifice any of it."

Todd wanted the best looking, most detailed graphics. Scope was never the problem.

This is such bullshit. Either it's okay for every game or it's not. You don't get to pick and choose when limitations are okay. More Microsoft pandering.

Digital Foundry to the rescue. You think they would come to Sony's defense if they were releasing ugly looking game that run at 30fps?

Why does procedurally generating a bunch of barren wastelands give them a pass?

Money talks folks (DF). You don't bite the hand that feeds... specially when that hand is in dire need of a win. It's called calling a little favor. Normal shit.
