Depend what flagships you are talking about. Pokemon... Animal Crossing on Switch has less features than 3DS. I don't know how can they achieve that.

Mario and Pokemon, and now Zelda are carrying Nintendo hard.

Whenever Nintendo has any mild success they also milk it like the others and they do it on a budget taking minimum risks.

It's not like they were creating a new IPs like Mario, Pokemon or Zelda every gen. The younger of those IPs is close to 30yo already.
