They probably saw how much Nintendo remasters were selling for and then decided to put a $70 price tag on this.
Gameplay is much much better in part 2. The story depends on your taste. I don't like part 2 in this regard.
Read the control scheme. There's a jump button in the game now, for gameplay.
Their silence about this project shows a big lack of confidence.
They are sending this game to die with zero marketing after the Geoff show. Random indies were there too so it was probably free to participate. Stray and Ghostwire Tokyo had more exposure than this.

I'm going to give Naughty Dog the benefit of the doubt here. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't do more especially given how much power they have to work with
I understand if the gameplay is similar given that it's a remake, but I expect the graphics to be a lot better, just like how the cutscenes have seen a major uplift

after CDPR, i give no one benefit of the doubt, they are all the same in the same boat.

- Adds jump functionality - could imply some changes to level design, even if minimal

Incredible how people set themselves false expectations and then cry online.
On a personal note, I am disappointed by the lack of prone and dodge, but those expectations were set on me by myself, and never did naughty dog claim they would be included. I also feel prone could require some more fundamental level design changes, which people would then proceed to bitch about because it's not the same.
We've reached a point where if something changes, it's seen as bad (updated design on Tess to make her more like the actual real life person that did mocap), and if something doesn't change, it's also seen as bad. The goalpost to cry about Naughty Dog games (and sony games overall) keeps moving.
Demon Soul's remake stays very true to the original as well besides much better graphics, haptic feedback, 3D audio, some aesthetic changes, enemy models, etc and it turned out amazing
Which is why I say they mainly need to land the graphics, it needs to look much better. There's a disconnect between the still images and the leaked footage imo
The leaked footage is low quality and washed out to hell, probably because capture quality was subpar.
Judging a games mechanics by someone playing on easy and capturing with a potato is in fact what I'd expect from online discourse.
