While yes, CDPR stated that they are not interested in getting acquired, they still are a public company and if Sony came with a really good offer, they would have listened to it.
Also they would have covered the missing WRPG aspect in Playstations portfolio. Now Sony is left with a disfunctional company that is Bungie that is focussed on liveservice and every project they are currently working on in regards to live service seems DOA.
I bet with 4 billion dollars Sony could’ve locked down gta 6 as a timed exclusive and it would’ve been magnitudes more impactful than anything bungie ever will produce.

What I have actually said is that it's way too soon to judge them and that even if they flop as an acquisition, it probably still made sense to do it, simply to avoid a reunification with Microsoft that may have dragged competition another for along 5-10 years.
Bungie returning to Halo was as grave a threat to PlayStation as there is in the industry.
Not sure why this guy getting fired for harassment makes this a bad acquisition. Final Shape proved they can still produce high quality games.
