I would say being slightly behind PS4 at this point IS kind of a big deal, because it always starts as "a little behind". Then the deficit grows. Next thing you know, you're pacing behind a console from two or three generations back.
This same gradual slope of a drop happened with Xbox; don't be like the Xbox diehards and just handwave any and all (legitimate) concerns as people stirring drama. If there's any possibility that certain decisions on SIE's part are leading to a pacing behind PS4 launch-aligned (when in their own previous FY forecasts they were aiming to be ahead of PS4 launch-aligned by this point), then those conflicts should be openly talked about, not swept under the rug.
Unless you're fine with the problem manifesting and growing deeper, until by the time you're ready to admit there could be a problem, it'd be too late. Also FWIW, people bringing up the Pro models as the reason why aren't being 100% honest. Sony themselves projected for PS5 to be ahead of PS4 by this point while taking into account the PS5 Pro would launch later launch-aligned than the PS4 Pro!
In other words, they were NOT counting on the PS5 Pro to be out by now, to help keep PS5 ahead of PS4 when launch-aligned. So it literally does not matter.
