Sony take away: "Thank God we pivoted to PC, consoles are clearly on their way out."

Sony are truly their own worst enemy, they are sabotaging the whole PlayStation brand.

I mean look at this
i just saw this on the PlayStation page

They even advertise for their competitors which is both ballsy and insane. How short sighted can you be as a company? These fuckers want to really kill PlayStation.

Sony released their first party game on pc

Many ps5 users decide migrate to pc cos theres no use for playstation if the games are available on pc and along with that your psplus subscribers gone aswell

Release the game day one on pc, there the game gets pirated like crazy resulting in a combination of declining console and game sales

Bravo sony for folowing xbox destruction :ROFLMAO:

At this point i want PS as a brand to die than to watch it goes to pc.

Thought it ll happen either way.
It will die as it goes to PC, same thing that happened to Xbox.

Look at NVidia, Steam, Epic, Nintendo, these are the companies Sony is underestimating and in many cases empowering. Complete fools.

I'm not waiting over a year to play PS exclusives. Also, thus far I would have missed, Demon's Souls, FFXVI, FF7R, SM2, GOWR, Stellar Blade, Rise of the ronin etc.

Pc players like to pretend theirs nothing to miss out on when you go steam. they also miss out on nintendo.... and then get the shittiest third party ports.

We have the same people complaining about PlayStation extending to PC in every thread, it's a bit ridiculous.

Also there is a reason why the PS5 hasn't received a price drop, because Sony can't afford to drop its price. The cost of components have increased not decreased. That's a new reality for console gaming.

You also had a major system seller in Hogwarts Legacy (released in February) pushing units still. There is nothing of the level of Hogwarts Legacy that has released this year.
Pure cope.

Sony increased the price of the console to compensate for the increased prices of components, even though they were turning a profit on every unit sold.
It's greed and arrogance at this point.

I love the additional context that dring gives without mentioning that the PS4 Pro came out last year launch aligned with the PS5.

Being slightly behind the PS4 without releasing the PS5 Pro, isn't a big deal. The PS5 Pro will probably push the PS5 back on track saleswise, if not give it a significant lead by the end of the fiscal year.

Edit: Yup, someone called him out on the very next tweet...
Yea the ps4 pro was out by now as well as a 299 slim if I’m not mistaken? Down 25 percent yoy sounds bad but in context it’s coming off ps5 being in stock and Hogwarts legacy and still at 499.

It's remarkable how the PS5 sells worse than PS4. Although the xbox is dead

@Yurinka you can't spin this one as a good thing. If the pace continues it's very like PS5 will sell less than PS4 lifetime. It also doesn't bode well for PS5 Pro.

And this is all before the Switch 2 releases.

I would say being slightly behind PS4 at this point IS kind of a big deal, because it always starts as "a little behind". Then the deficit grows. Next thing you know, you're pacing behind a console from two or three generations back.

This same gradual slope of a drop happened with Xbox; don't be like the Xbox diehards and just handwave any and all (legitimate) concerns as people stirring drama. If there's any possibility that certain decisions on SIE's part are leading to a pacing behind PS4 launch-aligned (when in their own previous FY forecasts they were aiming to be ahead of PS4 launch-aligned by this point), then those conflicts should be openly talked about, not swept under the rug.

Unless you're fine with the problem manifesting and growing deeper, until by the time you're ready to admit there could be a problem, it'd be too late. Also FWIW, people bringing up the Pro models as the reason why aren't being 100% honest. Sony themselves projected for PS5 to be ahead of PS4 by this point while taking into account the PS5 Pro would launch later launch-aligned than the PS4 Pro!

In other words, they were NOT counting on the PS5 Pro to be out by now, to help keep PS5 ahead of PS4 when launch-aligned. So it literally does not matter.

Barely being able to keep up with PS4 with Xbox doing significantly worse than XB1 and Switch on a decline is a massive failure on Sony's part.

Have a look around, forums, twitter, instagram etc. There will be some people that say whats the point when they can play the games on the PC…. Its odd comments but its building up. Just like when Xbox said they are moving to PC too. It was the end. Even some of the biggest dorky Steamfans that hate PS is because they were Xbox fans until 2014 and moved over. Or had both but stopped bothering with the Xbox console.

Like gamepass, this is an obvious longterm strategic mistake. Its obvious to see, but people want to ignore it because it has its own revenue numbers.

It does not benefit the PS console at all and creates another option in PC to play PS games.

Pretty sure the Switch outsold PS4 most months after year 1 of Switch? Might be wrong. Probably not in the same months GOW 2018, Spiderman got released etc.
I predict the same unless Switch 2 doesnt have GTA6.

I think the only thing that can help PS5 sales against Switch 2 will be if GTA6 doesnt launch on Switch 2. Which I dont think will come to Switch 2.

Maybe because we dont have much idea what else is officially coming for PS5 outside of Wolverine, Death Stranding 2 etc. GTA6 will be huge though. And Nintendo can make plenty of there own mistakes like pricing, name etc.

Sony fear of the death of consoles killed their console business, beautiful, this is the type of reward that stupidity deserves. They failed to learn anything nothing from seeing Xbox struggles.

Now we need the Switch 2 and more SteamOS devices to finish the job.

When PlayStation fans that had been satisfied for multiple generations start to question why they even have a PlayStation you know they fucked up. There is no Nintendo fan questioning why the have a Switch (unless we count pirates emulating their system).

You're assuming the deficit will grow despite the PS5 Pro and GTA6. I'd be willing to bet money that you're wrong.

You can't count an extra year of the PS4 Pro AND price cuts and discount Sony's ability to keep pace despite the PS5's higher price AND a freaking pandemic... it's not a serious argument.

Just because Sony projected the PS5 to be ahead of the PS4 by now doesn't mean that behind slightly behind is a catastrophe. They thought they could get ahead without it doesn't mean they can match pass or get ahead with it...

Sony does not profit from hardware sales.
