This is what Sony actually said:

Do we understand what a decrease in loss is versus an increase in profit?
Not only that, but several financial reports since have cited the increase in component costs.
I really wish people would at least debate things on facts.

According to a report from Bloomberg written by Takashi Mochizuki who is entirely non-credible with no cited sources in the face of actual financial reports from Sony that states otherwise. Yet this same article gets paraded as fact...
The PS5 was hard to get for two years... It should have never seen these kinda sales declines just a mere year after mass availability. Sony has botched this product. Talk about snatching defeat from the claws of Victory.
If the PS5 price is already too high, what in the world makes you think an even more expensive machine will help out the situation? Lmao
And GTA 6 sales bump will only last a month or two at max.
What exclusive does PS5 even have Demon Souls, GT7 & Spiderman 2 & both Demon Souls & Spiderman 2 where in the nvidia so PC port coming soon. Someone would tell me if they should get PS5 & would say there’s no exclusive there on PC invest in a PC & you’ll get all PS games at better performance at a cheaper price, fully feature+mods, better performance no online subscription. Sony made the PS platform the worst to play PS games lol people don’t mind waiting if it means they get better performance & bigger library on another platform (steam/pc).

Also PS5 is $500 base model discless is $400, PS4 at this time was what $300
If Sony can’t lower PS5 cost make a native handheld & make it $350 take the model of the portal & half the screen size remove haptic trigger & feedback for regular rumble. Sony needs a console that’s the power of PS5 but at $300 to $350 to drive further sales increase call it PS5 GO & due to this new native handheld prolong the generation for 3 more years 2030 when the PS6 releases. If the PS6 comes out in 2027 people will be made PS5 barely has exclusive & PS ports there games to PC who would buy a PS6 for $500 knowing there games goes to PC after 1-2 years Sony needs to be all in on consoles like Nintendo or go full 3rd party like Xbox there’s no in between all the PC port is doing is diminishing your console sells & making other platforms more attractive Sony better find other ways to increase profits then doing PC ports. Xbox is doing this half & half console & 3rd party & there in a complete death spiral

I mean both of these assessments are so poor, but I'm not going to go back and forth with you, because even when proven wrong you'll just disappear.
I have so many receipts from so many discussions with so many people, but no one wins arguments on the internet, even when I'm right, I've still lost.
I'll say for the record though, the PS5 Pro is going to sell to a lot of people who already own PS5s and to many of those who want a higher end gaming machine and aren't necessarily holding out because of the cost of the PS5.
GTA6 will be the biggest console game of the last 10 years. I think the impact on consoles sales from this game were blunted due to the 360 taking so much market share against the PS3 and the PS4 not getting a brand new GTA game.
This will be the first time since GTA Vice City that a Grand Theft Auto game sold nearly exclusively on one platform and we saw the impacts of that with the PS2.
Of course GTA6 will be on the XBS as well, but I doubt the XBS will even have much inventory in retail when this game releases.
In short, it's going to sell for a lot longer than a couple months, especially if it has an online component at launch.
It's going to be VERY interesting to see what Sony does with their handheld in terms of release date, power, price, and functionality.
I think Cerny is the guy around this to look for efficiencies and PSSR could play a major part in what they deliver.
They also have to decide whether they're going to allow for cross buy or not, which I think will be decided by cost. I'm not sure whether they can deliver the system they need to at volume for 300-350 dollars. So if you have to take a loss on hardware, you may not want to allow game entitlements to carry over with no additional fee.
I don't think the PS6 comes out in 2030 though. Even 2028 is really pushing it.

And the PS4 Pro sold less than 15 million units and it was more needed than the PS5 Pro. Good luck convincing people to buy a $600 Machine without a steady flow of proper exclusives that will make use of it.
GTA V sold a ton of PS4? It was even Sony's holiday bundle to go up against the Xbox One massively discounted Assassin's Creed: Unity Xbox One that season and it did well. We know for a fact GTA V pushed many over to PS4 as well and GTA V was also used to push those same people over to PS5 with the free GTA Online download PS5 owners got it.
Either way there's a lot of over lap when it comes to GTA V sales and people are somehow thinking there's this HUGE untapped audience waiting for it.
Yes it will move hardware but again by the time it arrives the PS5 should be pushing at least 70 million assuming sales don't continue to fall off a cliff.
Really 2028 is so soon for a PS6 atleast with the PS4 generation it was 6-7 years but it had true exclusive so it maximize its console. Idk any gamer or PS fan who would buy a PS6 with the lackluster first party output & now knowing PS ports there game to PC I certainly aint looking to buy the next PS6 console. Why? PS put themselves in the same position as Xbox & I fully expect PS6 to sell less then 100 million if it’s handheld & it’s $500 & they continue PC port
They should push back this gen & come out with a PS5 native handheld in 2026 when Xbox releases there handheld to combat Xbox having the only handheld that can play GTA6 in a handheld because it won’t be on PC. This PS5 native handheld has to be at the lowest $400 to compete with Nintendo if Sony can get it to $350 by removing haptic feedback & the triggers & shrinking the screen size $350 price for a PS5 handheld would be very very nice & help Sony push “PS5 console” name it PS5 GO

And the PS5 is 100 dollars more than the PS4 and has increased in price rather than decreased in price and has kept pace with PS4 sales despite a pandemic... What if I told you people were more willing to pay for higher end devices? That the system is designed to apply to all games whether tailored for it or not and that games are designed in a way to better make use of additional framerate and utilize dynamic resolution whereas many games on PS4 were locked to 30 fps and had fixed resolution.
Where did I say GTA5 didn't sell a bunch of PS4s. I just said it wasn't a brand new GTA game. GTA Online has 30 million MAUs. If GTA6 has an online mode and there is no PC version available, it is going to push a lot of units.
GTA6 doesn't need to sell 150 million units on PS5 in order to push the hardware. If this game sells between 30-50 million units (honestly I could see it selling 60 million+), it is going to shift a lot of PS5s and PS5 Pros. Do you think it'll sell less than that?

I think that stacks up as well as the rest of the lineup for PS4 in terms of sales. Also worth noting that PS4 got GTA5 ported in 2014, not too long after its release on PS3/X1.

GTA was still practically a new game when it came out on PS4 though? And many PS3 players quickly migrated over for it.
Of course the game is gonna shift a lot of units but it's not gonna move millions and millions of PS5 / Pro for a prolonged period of time. The PS5 will be in its 5th year by then. It will give a huge boost in hardware sales and that was never in question. And yes I don't see it selling less than 60 million unless something goes terribly wrong.
None of those games mentioned except GTA 6 will be massive system sellers either

This is a forum and there are different kinds of posters.
Some posters have an agenda and will say whatever nonsense fits their agenda and as you said, don't care if you're right or wrong.
Others like to discuss things on the merits and have thoughtful conversations.
The PS4 experienced a boost from GTA as early as 2014. The PS5s boost from GTA is going to be launch aligned after 2017, same thing with PS5 Pro. That you guys deny these elements entirely is out of pocket.
How many units is PS5 behind PS4? And then tell me me that GTA6 and the PS5 Pro aren't going to cover the difference...
Again, you've made it clear that you don't actually care if you're right or not. Which means that you're willing to say things just to say them, and that you're saying them because they fit your agenda not any actual thoughts or analysis that you think will bare out.
And if it wasn't for COVID and Sony prioritizing PS5 hardware over PS4 in 2020 and onwards there's no doubt the PS4 would have crossed 130+ million easily.
It's so obvious the drastic slow down in PS5 sales last summer and onwards caught them off guard. You really have to mess up royally to mess with a momentum like what they had going.
To think they wanted to be at 63 million by the end of March this year now they probably might not have even reach 60 million by the end of the fiscal quarter.
Sony losing Spain was not on my bingo card of things happening this generation. Even during the PS3 days they stuck with Sony.
But another issue is, they constantll temporary price drops across mainland Europe has conditioned buyers to simply wait as well. A very sloppy slope but they have been making shit decisions all gen.
