it's nearly impossible for a PC port to fail and Sony isn't going to stop making them.
There's only 626 people playing Until Dawn on Steam and it's number 69 on bestsellers. If you don't think that's a failure you're beyond help.

You put the whole budget on the PS5 version, the PC version is always free according to your weird math.

PlayStation will continue to sink slowly, when you realize it, it will be too late.

You guys are becoming tiring.

Let's see what this does after the movie comes out probably this summer and again when it ends up streaming on Netflix next October. Especially once this drops in price.

Like clearly you don't understand the following

  • Concurrent users is not a good benchmark for sales, certainly not long term sales
  • PC games don't need to sell numbers at launch
  • These PC ports do not need to recoup the entirety of development costs, simply the port costs
  • Sony's transmedia strategy is the big reason for these remakes/remasters
  • This game was not super expensive for Ballistic Moon to develop and for Sony to publish
  • This is how you test out new studios, not every game is going to be successful, especially the first attempts for a studio, but this is how you build out your 1st and 2nd party relationships in a cost effective manner
    • This is not a new strategy for Sony
As for Ballistic Moon, Sony is probably done with them, hence why they've laid off half their staff. Probably just enough to do some maintenance on the game. Ultimately it is a shame, it would have been a good opportunity for them to have brought this to PSVR2.
Oye chatbot Sony's transmedia strategy sucks, this is the same company that released morbius TWICE!!! once more after bombing hard because of fuckin MEME's.
How do you know its not expensive, did herman give you the numbers about how much it cost to make until dawn remake? These idiots paid 3.6 billion for the bunglers at Bungie.

It was the best example of story-based horror from this style of game. The Dark Pictutes Anthology were never as pollished, or as tight, as when Sony helped Supermassive nuture Until Dawn from PS3 Move game to PS4. The Quarry seemed to come closest, but that game was supposed to be UD2 and had Sony's support initially.

This "remake" changes scene tone/color settings, doesn't look vastly better, just different/worse. And I cant say I ever saw people asking for UD1 Remake. UD2/other games in this style to the level of UD's pollish? Sure thing.

The remake for PC crumbs money has sullied the previous best example we had from the genre. Thanks Jim/Herman Era.

Did you play it?

I get the complains. However, having played UD about 8 times or so, I really enjoyed A LOT what the remake offered as well. My only gripe was the 30fps lock which I suspect they will patch or Pro update very soon. Nonetheless, the characters and locations look fantastic in the new version as well.

Did it need a remake? No. Do I take a new update with new direction, new 3rd person camera, new music, among other tweaks in 2024? Sure.

Anything to replay my favorite Supermassive game.

The game is good, a sequel is good, a movie not sure, and a remake was definitely a bad idea so we're laughing at it.

Think about that logically, why Sony would start with a remake rather than a sequel and why they would do a movie.

  • Sony does not have a relationship with Supermassive Games anymore
  • Having a new studio do a sequel would have been a much more expensive and risky endeavor especially for a game that is 10 years old
  • Sony has been making horror movies for decades, it makes sense to make an Until Dawn movie as much as any other horror movie they make
    • It has a built in fanbase and is an established IP
    • If the movie is even remotely successful in theaters and/or streaming it can lead to people buying a game
  • Selling a remake is much easier than selling a 10 year old game and more profitable
    • Fallout has been a huge success on Amazon, but there is no recent content so the amount of money they're making on it is minimal
So your "laughter" just makes you weird and illogical

Imagine green lighting a game no one ask for a remake then making a Until Dawn 2 (that will likely be day n date on PC) then making a Until dawn movie (which will likely flop) because who’s asking for a until dawn movie?

Until Dawn a remake built from the ground up using unreal engine (4-5 years & likely over if not around a 100 million budget) flopping w the game itself being day n date on PC both flopping on PC & PS I since it’s not exclusive no one on PS cares nor will it be use to push consoles/hardware, subscription, mtx/3rd party what a failure lol.

Until dawn 2 will flop, what’s that 3 flops in 1 franchise back to back. That nearly 300 million being put into a fire pit good leadership & vision from Herman/Jim & Sony/PS. Short sighted & questionable decision making.

Concord looks to do better then Until dawn which Concord was rumored to sell 25K so Until Dawn is sitting around what 10K-15K?

Funny how when PS tried to create shit for the PC crowd it’s either a disaster/flop, diminished/decreased of sales of there previous singleplayer PC port or outright just bad fiasco type pr problems. Either way PS doing there best making there games & ip look weak & no longer have that aura & prestige they once had & it certainly don’t help that Sony/PS is double downing on the diversity/die shit from external companies that don’t give a fuck about the games themselves

Alright
  • Having a new studio do a sequel would have been a much more expensive and risky endeavor especially for a game that is 10 years old
That's already happening at Firesprite
  • Sony has been making horror movies for decades, it makes sense to make an Until Dawn movie as much as any other horror movie they make
    • It has a built in fanbase and is an established IP
    • If the movie is even remotely successful in theaters and/or streaming it can lead to people buying a game
Could still work but the problem here is that Until Dawn is already a movie kinda so they're gonna make another movie with a worse cast
  • Selling a remake is much easier than selling a 10 year old game and more profitable
    • Fallout has been a huge success on Amazon, but there is no recent content so the amount of money they're making on it is minimal

Well too bad it wasn't so easy this time. It flopped accept it.

Ok

That's already happening at Firesprite

Any evidence of this? It's rumored, but we have no idea. If the movie is a success, a sequel will probably sell well, and it will spawn a sequel movie... rinse and repeat... that's kind of the name of the game.

Could still work but the problem here is that Until Dawn is already a movie kinda so they're gonna make another movie with a worse cast

Do you think that people really care about the casts of horror movies?

Well too bad it wasn't so easy this time. It flopped accept it.

We'll see. I think calling it a flop is premature. It could very well be a flop, but I don't think you can say that until after this movie hits netflix.

This makes sense why they had layoffs they likely saw the weak pre orders, looks like that studio will get shut down don’t see the use of there not even working on Until Dawn 2 & I don’t see Sony/PS giving them a budget to work on something especially horror since not many people enjoyed the changes & w poor sales ehh maybe PS should’ve green lighted a new horror ip instead & had it exclusive to PS as PS own horror franchise maybe get something in the veins of RE or Dead space maybe make a PSVR2 mode for it RE4 PSVR2 is amazing & a game like Dead Space in VR would be amazing. Should’ve made a Resistance spin off more off a horror FPS like Reaident Evil.

It actually looks good but it was just not needed. Not sure about performance but some of the clips look great.

But its a year or 2 wasted instead of making a new IP in the same genre for PS5

I don't understand why there are comments mocking a second wind for Until Dawn Remake sales once the movie comes out. Have we forgotten the bump in TLOU 1 & 2 when the HBO series came out?

I platinumed the OG version and would recommend that. If the Remake goes under 20 then I'll party like I'm fucking pornstars and go for a second platinum.
