No clue, but I'm not obtuse enough to fail at realizing they basically own 1/3 of the entire gaming industry now. Odds are they will heavily prevail with tons of great games even if many of their releases don't stick the landing.

When you're getting hit with a battery of missiles it doesn't really matter if some fail to connect, you're still getting hammered.

1/3 of North America maybe.

Rest of the world? Please.

Playstation going to be a clear leader, will in particular start pulling ahead more once supply issues are.. well, less of an issue. The chip shortage put a damper on Playstation in particular IMO as they had so much damn momentum coming into the gen.

Xbox clearly is going to do better than last gen, I mean they bought a bunch of profit lol That includes I think having a better ratio of consoles sold vs. Sony compared to last gen.. but I still think Sony will be 1.5X or something like that, significant, clear leader.

But in the end, both brands are now less tied to console hardware sales. Sony is going to be making more mobile games, bought a studio that releases on Xbox, and for all we know might have other live service games that are actually fully multi-platform. I suspect most outside of Bungie will be PC + PS + mobile if they can swing it, but it is super interesting the possibility of Sony publishing on Xbox.

Then of course the dirty word "PC."

Nintendo gonna Nintendo.. they mostly exist to sell their own games to people wanting a mobile device. I just don't care that much about them and don't really think they are competing in the same race.

One of the more interesting things will be to see how the higher PS+ tiers compete with Gamepass. I think it's quite possible that very quickly the PS+ Extra/Premium membership numbers will beat Gamepass.

Odds are they'll keep being terrible at producing games as they always were under Phil Spencer.

There is a reason why despite MS size they were never able to truly compete against Sony and Nintendo and that reason is their games suck, they have no taste and they focus on value because they never had quality. To be honest even their fans suck, why would anyone be a fan of Xbox?

They ain't got nothing to compete with Sony, CoD won't change anything, Blizzard won't change anything and Bethesda will at best get them one big game every 8 years (and I'm giving them more credit than they deserve here, based on what they have shown) and a bunch of games like Redfall.

Why when every one of these discussions happen do you guys just cite the publishers acquired but completely fail to denote the host of studios under them which have proven to deliver great games?

Like who? Bethesda next game already looks pretty bad. Blizzard is a joke and Activision can only make CoD at this point.

They didn't pay for quality.

You just did it again lmao... These publishers are an umbrella of studios and IP... What planet are you living on...

It's not just Bethesda, Activision/Blizzard making games...

Yep. Don't know anything about that new fantasy IP from Blizzard but Diablo IV looks awesome. Expecting an easy 90+ on Open Critic. Activision has mainly been a COD factory but once they're exclusive, I see it being a platform so the vast majority of the other studios can do other games. Bethesda Game Studios is proven and I know majority love to point out Fallout 76 even though the game is pretty big now but that wasn't Todd Howard and the main development team. Plus, the game itself was forced by Zenimax. I'm expecting Starfield to be around the 95 mark on OC and the 2023 overall game of the year. I know it looks "meh" and wasn't impressive visually but no BGS game ever has been and yet they're still critically acclaimed game in and game out.

Arkane is great and so damn underrated. Redfall is going to be great looter shooter. Id Software isn't for me since im not a Doom/Quake/Unreal guy but their quality has been great the last 5+ years. Machine Games has been very good except for Youngblood which like Fallout 76 was forced by Zenimax. Tango Gameworks still needs their "big hit" and I wish they would do an Evil Within 3 but I am looking forward to seeing what John Johanas (TEW 2) is doing with his team and of course, down the line, what Mikami ends up doing.

Then for the rest of the studios, Playground Games has been excellent with Forza Horizon 5 and their second studio should definitely have the visuals and tech nailed down for Fable. Hope they nail the rest but im confident that they will. The Coalition is arguably the best studio Microsoft has. Their games always look and play amazing. Can't wait to see what they do with Gears 6 and their new IP first using Unreal Engine 5. Obsidian is great with RPG's and like Arkane, underrated and underappreciated. Looking forward to Avowed and eventually The Outer Worlds 2. InXile who did the great Wasteland 3 is said to be working on a first person steampunk RPG. InXile has always had funding problems and whatnot. Can't wait to see what they're working on now that is no longer an issue. Turn 10 has for the most part dominated simulation racing and I don't see that changing with Forza Motorsport 8.

Ninja Theory is awesome. Not the biggest fan of Hellblade but I am looking forward to the sequel because what they did visually and presentation wise on $30m if I remember correctly was very impressive. I know majority here bash 343 but as someone who only cares about the campaign, I loved Halo Infinite and im looking forward to their first expansion. No interest in Rare even though Sea of Thieves is huge and no interest in Mojang as Minecraft is massive. But neither studio is for me so meh. Double Fine is real good but they don't make games that appeal to me. Still, a quality studio. World's Edge is just for Age of Empires. Great games for those who are into them but not for me. Compulsion Games is a studio that has been mediocre at best but with rumors of them working on a third person single player story driven game, I hope they finally hit. And finally, Undead Labs which disappointed me with State of Decay 2 can hopefully rebound with State of Decay 3 as I really enjoyed the first game and they have a lot of the base and foundation already set. They just need to make the gameplay/combat up to par as well as the visuals for the character models and animations. And of course, solve the technical issues that was in SOD 2.

Obviously, im very confident across the board for all of Microsoft's studios with an exception here and there. Either way, im very much looking forward to 2023 and beyond. 😂

Again, like who? I can think of a few, but far from being able to make any difference considering that Sony grew their studios as well.

Supply issues are the only think keeping the PS5 from giving MS an even bigger beating.

As if you would give a shit if most of those studios you mention were not Xbox studios, not to mention that the biggest game you mention, Diablo IV is already confirmed for PlayStation. It seems like you are barely being able to convince yourself.

But I love the high expectations you have, keep them that high, it will only enhance the feeling you'll get once Phil once again comes up way short.

20 years later and you guys haven't learned anything.

You guys really don't understand what they'll be going up against. Bear in mind this graphic alone is missing over a dozen other sister studios...

Once this acquisition goes through Xbox will be the largest publisher there is... You can repeat all the tired nonsense you want but there is no competition against a conglomeration like this.

Not true. While I didn't care about every studio, I have cared about Arkane, Tango, Machine Games, Undead Labs and Ninja Theory. I have never been a Bethesda Game Studios guy whatsoever and while I enjoyed Doom 2016, the whole demons and hell thing isn't for me and looking at the history of Id, while they were usually great, their games just are of no interest to me. As for ABK, I don't care about COD. I played a few last gen and just like Battlefield, both are on a nice generation break for me. Played enough of them to where I don't need to play them this generation. I know there's some IP's that Activision has that I was interested in a long time ago and if they ever come back, it's going to be under Microsoft because it was never going to be as the way they were/are. As for Blizzard, im not into Warcraft or Overwatch. I would like to see Starcraft Ghost I think it was get resurrected because that definitely interested me. I did play Diablo 3 for about 15 hours but then they announced Diablo IV and once I saw gameplay in early 2020 if I remember correctly, I dropped it and said, nah, I'll just wait for Diablo IV.

I know Diablo IV is a cross-gen multi-platform game, both of which are disappointing to me and while I personally would make it exclusive and current gen only, I would be fine with them cancelling the last gen versions if they had to. I was hyped for this game since 2020, long before Microsoft came along to acquire ABK. Day One. Playing as Rogue. Decisions were made literally years ago. Ninja Theory is great. I bought Hellblade at launch on PS4 and rated it an 8/10. Great game overall but I didn't like the puzzles at all and the combat needed much more depth but all things considered, Ninja Theory did a great job.

The only studios I have interest in due to Microsoft acquiring them is Obsidian, InXile and Compulsion. The rest I either already had interest like half of Bethesda that I mentioned or still don't have any interest in like Double Fine or pretty much all of Activision. Or even Bethesda Game Studios.

I have high expectations just like I had for Sony going into PS4 generation. Sony didn't give me anything until 2016 which for this generation, 2023 would be the equivalent. No issues with Phil. He's already done way better than all those before him except for Moore and yes, I do believe he will surpass him one this generation ends. And compared to Xbox One, I already got something from them that they didn't give me last generation - a game of the year for me personally. So they've already done better for me anyway.

For me, it's not 20 years. More like 12+. And the years I played 360, I had no complaints.

You obviously hate Xbox, Spencer and whatnot but what I don't understand is that if you don't have any real interest in Xbox or their games, why does it matter to you if they suck or if they're amazing? I don't get it. It would be like me bashing Nintendo every day despite the fact that I don't give a shit about Nintendo whatsoever. They can dominate and crush all for the next 1000 years or they can die tomorrow. I literally don't care which.

But to each their own.

I'm not sure why with the combined brain power on this forum you guys can't find another definition for people stating that Sony's games are coming to PC.

"I really hope Sony brings God of War Ragnarok to PC" is begging.

"God of War Ragnarok is coming to PC" is a statement of impending reality.

Please use this educational moment to learn the difference.

Oh it is.

You literally just asked for more Sony PC ports on a thread relating to PS4 and PS5 gametime.

You’re literally the only one doing it here.

I asked? Yeah... that never happened. Lose the delusions.

Fact is y'all don't know what begging actually is and use it stupidly on a constant basis for mere statements of clear trajectory for future events.

Do better, be smarter.

This was the first post in a thread which had nothing to do with PC.

Yep, that's a statement bud... not begging...

Oh and it most certainly involves PC as they have an opportunity of generating profits during climates when their console is failing to do so.

It's all related.

xbox has a brand image that's completely toxic though, they've been known as a gameless box for almost a decade now. I really wonder what that'll do long-term, i mean consumer trust in them can never fully recover. this imaginary scenario where suddenly a switch flips and everyone forgets what xbox has been for 1/2 of it's lifetime now just isn't going to happen.

I just don't see it turning around for them, even if they suddenly start releasing games. It's literally too late

Xbox is the off-brand "value" console. The problem is that they offer terrible value with the Series S and Gamepass isn't looking nearly as good as it once did now that there is a direct competitor.

Lack of PS5 supply is disguising how unappealing the Xbox Series consoles are, they'll need to improve a lot of things to beat the Xbox One numbers.
