Yep. Don't know anything about that new fantasy IP from Blizzard but Diablo IV looks awesome. Expecting an easy 90+ on Open Critic. Activision has mainly been a COD factory but once they're exclusive, I see it being a platform so the vast majority of the other studios can do other games. Bethesda Game Studios is proven and I know majority love to point out Fallout 76 even though the game is pretty big now but that wasn't Todd Howard and the main development team. Plus, the game itself was forced by Zenimax. I'm expecting Starfield to be around the 95 mark on OC and the 2023 overall game of the year. I know it looks "meh" and wasn't impressive visually but no BGS game ever has been and yet they're still critically acclaimed game in and game out.
Arkane is great and so damn underrated. Redfall is going to be great looter shooter. Id Software isn't for me since im not a Doom/Quake/Unreal guy but their quality has been great the last 5+ years. Machine Games has been very good except for Youngblood which like Fallout 76 was forced by Zenimax. Tango Gameworks still needs their "big hit" and I wish they would do an Evil Within 3 but I am looking forward to seeing what John Johanas (TEW 2) is doing with his team and of course, down the line, what Mikami ends up doing.
Then for the rest of the studios, Playground Games has been excellent with Forza Horizon 5 and their second studio should definitely have the visuals and tech nailed down for Fable. Hope they nail the rest but im confident that they will. The Coalition is arguably the best studio Microsoft has. Their games always look and play amazing. Can't wait to see what they do with Gears 6 and their new IP first using Unreal Engine 5. Obsidian is great with RPG's and like Arkane, underrated and underappreciated. Looking forward to Avowed and eventually The Outer Worlds 2. InXile who did the great Wasteland 3 is said to be working on a first person steampunk RPG. InXile has always had funding problems and whatnot. Can't wait to see what they're working on now that is no longer an issue. Turn 10 has for the most part dominated simulation racing and I don't see that changing with Forza Motorsport 8.
Ninja Theory is awesome. Not the biggest fan of Hellblade but I am looking forward to the sequel because what they did visually and presentation wise on $30m if I remember correctly was very impressive. I know majority here bash 343 but as someone who only cares about the campaign, I loved Halo Infinite and im looking forward to their first expansion. No interest in Rare even though Sea of Thieves is huge and no interest in Mojang as Minecraft is massive. But neither studio is for me so meh. Double Fine is real good but they don't make games that appeal to me. Still, a quality studio. World's Edge is just for Age of Empires. Great games for those who are into them but not for me. Compulsion Games is a studio that has been mediocre at best but with rumors of them working on a third person single player story driven game, I hope they finally hit. And finally, Undead Labs which disappointed me with State of Decay 2 can hopefully rebound with State of Decay 3 as I really enjoyed the first game and they have a lot of the base and foundation already set. They just need to make the gameplay/combat up to par as well as the visuals for the character models and animations. And of course, solve the technical issues that was in SOD 2.
Obviously, im very confident across the board for all of Microsoft's studios with an exception here and there. Either way, im very much looking forward to 2023 and beyond.
