But...you're right.

We need a leader like Ken Kutaragi back. I know many deem his final years as a failure but he would never allow Microsoft to slap around the Playstation brand, the way current shit leadership has. He would never allow 3rd parties to use Playstation and then betray them every step of the way.

I remember when Xbox debuted the Series Console at the Game Awards and the Western Branch of Playstation got nervous and wanted to instantly counter lol. Till Japan Top guys stepped in and told them to calm down. Instead they allowed them to simply post a Playstation 5 logo on IG and that alone dismantled the hype for Xbox.

I disagree with any of the above, Sony's corporate ethos is to deliver a premium product and charge a premium price for it. I actually see them reeling back a bit on the GAAS push, simply because the shotgun approach may damage the Sony 1st party legacy/brand reputation if a bunch of them flop or are terrible. Like imagine if Destruction All-Stars was Naughty Dog's game, they'd be a laughingstock in the industry. It's much safer to develop these GAAS in partnership with external studios, and if the game hits or the studios prove themselves, then acquire them.

Nobody listed.

I would like leadership to go back to Japan. Shu would be great but I don't think he has interest in it.

I think it will be someone from their Asian operations anyway.
God I hope not

Anyone from Japan will be a corporate yes man for large Sony which hates gaming. Expect everything to go backwards if that happens

Anyone but Hermen. He’d put everything on PC and mess the studios up even more.
Bobby wouldnt know what to do without COD or Guitar Hero etc, so no to him too.
None of the above tbh

I'd say Eric Lempel and Lin Tao, both senior vicepresidents of SIE are the most likely candidates. They both have been at Sony for like 20 years, joined SIE around the PS2 days aprox., have been part of the SIE and Sony CEO teams, have a corporate management and marketing role. Eric has been more time at SIE and more related to PSN and marketing. Lin Tao has been in Sony's smartphones division and is an Asian woman.

I think they won't choose Hermen, Shuhei or Mark Cerny because they have a profile more related to game development instead of a corporate management and marketing profile. There are also options like Bobby Kotick or John Riccitello, who I think they have too bad press and are too old, if they don't retire now will retire very soon. Phil Spencer is a failed enemy who just got ABK, so won't want him and having acquired ABK, MS will want him to stay there to recoup that huge investment.

So the chatter about Shuhei Yoshida being a possible candidate for the New CEO position is more likely, huh?
It's a bit sad to admit, but they definitely demoted Shuhei to a mere Indie Game Advocator...
They didn't demote Shuhei, Shuhei asked Jim Ryan to support the indies with a series of different inititatives. Jim liked the ideas and offered him to create and lead a new SIE division to implement these tasks. Shuhei accepted. This is how Shuhei moved from PS Studio head to PlayStation Indies head.

Shuhei is doing what he wants, he's happier now.

You are out of your mind if you think that HACK Hermen is even worthy of leading Playstation. We need him sent back to Guerrilla.
He's doing a great job, the PS Studios games sell better than ever, get more great reviews and awards than ever and he's growing all teams and acquiring teams iwth a lot of pedigree and potentia. He's getting the best results any PS Studios head ever had.

Rocket League should have been a PS IP.
Hello Games should have been acquired
These devs are one hit wonders, but yes.

From Software - should have been acquired
Ready At Dawn - Should have been acquired
Yes.
Super Massive should have been acquired
Other PS Studios companies hired some of their key talent who worked in popular games as Until Dawn. Other key talent are in Ballistic Moon, who is working on a Sony game.

Evolution Studios - should still be here.
Jim and Hermen acquired Firesprite, which basically is Evolution + Liverpool Studio + Bizarre Creations.

The next CEO needs to be someone from their home turf (Japan). Playstation needs to be de-westernized a bit. The western branch of Playstation has weakened the brand in every single way. Bleeding partnerships, variety, and brand confidence.

New CEO needs to be someone who cares about Gaming and just as much as they care about money. Needs to be aggressive, needs to understand the importance of community engagement.
That would be nice.

Ricitello???? If Sony ever sniffs hiring that loser I'll instantly sell all my Sony products and never do business with them again
