If Nvidia made their own console, it would have to be Windows-based similar to Valve's Steam Deck. Both of those solutions is pretty much what Valve has now but would be in console format. Nvidia would charge an arm and a leg but it would have the most power. However, it logically wouldn't make sense because the PC is already around now. Apple? Nah.. possibly though.

Why doesn’t Apple have a part of the Console or more “traditional” video games industry?

Or why don’t they have focus on traditional PC/Console games on their Store/Platform? Steam is pretty limited on Apple right?

Apple's the only one who makes sense, and they already have a decent enough gaming platform with apple arcade.

I didn’t know about these

They won't bow out after investing the best part $80bn in recent acquisitions (at least not in the short to medium term), plus all the losses they've eaten with GamePass.

They can continue to hide their numbers amongst the wider companies' large profits, and it would be a source of embarrassment to bow out of the industry.

Microsoft is the one in the least possible position of backing out, they're investing more than anyone by multitudes, and will have so much of the industry in their fold that the only option is to push forward.

You have a total lack of awareness.

The delusion is real. Anyway, Xbox isn't even 3rd place right now, and the Epic vs Apple lawsuit showed us that Xbox was profitable even in 2019, its worst year in a long time. So your entire premise is wrong. You also might've missed the fact that they just invested almost 80 billion dollars in gaming. It's gonna be a very long generation for you guys.

No cope, only facts now.

Yes please, go ahead. Tell us the facts.
As place 1 and 2 are already taken by Nintendo and Sony, and you claim Xbox is not 3rd anymore, the logical consequence is, it must have gone below 3rd.

Or is there some new obscure metric I'm not aware of?

Like "number of delusional fanboys" or "amount of subscription codes bundled with snacks" or "most useless console"? In these lists, Xbox surely would lead the way.

Xbox is 2nd in revenue, ahead of Nintendo.

Nope.
Like "number of delusional fanboys"
The irony.
"amount of subscription codes bundled with snacks"
They should bundle them with some healthy stuff. Eating American garbage is a no-no.
or "most useless console"?
Cringe.

Oh and here I thought that the amount of sold consoles was still the value we use for the console wars within a generation
Nobody sane uses that metric, especially not nowadays where two of the three console makers are pivoting away from console-only strategies. Revenue is used to determine the ranking.

Well it's also not really fair to use that, too, though, if you can jump in the ranking by simply buying other companies and therefore absorbing their revenues....

It was at $9bn just a couple years ago. I fear this isn't going to end well for you
They doubled it didn't they?!

Amazing what throwing money at a subscription service can do for your revenue growth (not profits though because these are still hidden).

I worry for your mental health at the end of the generation when Xbox is still stuck in third place. Maybe Adam will be on hand to give you a hug 😄

It's not even in third place now, it's already ahead of Nintendo. You're gonna need better coping strategies if you want to stay sane throughout this generation ;)
