Why was Sony so tight lipped about Bloodborne sales when it actually sold well? Why don't they care?

Death of PlayStation Japan Studios caused a licensing nightmare, which is why the game wasn't remastered.
That's a lie.

Japan Studio didn't die, it was restructured and changed their management. Their internal development teams got merged into one of them, Team Asobi, who now is the only team there and is on charge of the studio and now are growing.

Their XDEV second party publishing team got a separate new office for them where they can grow because now are also in charge of 2nd party games developed in the rest of Asia and work in more games at the same time than ever before. After the restructuring they published Death Stranding Director's Cut and this year will publish Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, Convallaria and Lost Soul Aside.

Such supposed licensing nightmare doesn't exist. Like all the PlayStation Studios, Japan Studio (now Team Asobi) and their Japanese XDEV team, they are all SIE subsidiaries. So SIE is the one who owns the licenses of all their IPs. As it is the case of Bloodborne.

His ass.

My theory is that they want to avoid a patch just to set up an unnecessary $70 remake.

Why you making shit up and stating it like a fact? It makes no sense Sony would lose the license for one of their own games.

Apparently besides licensing, they need FromSoftware help to work on it

The game sold 7 million which is great for a brand new IP, From soft since then has only gotten even more popular.

The game has a very loyal fan base who are crying out got a patch or a ps5 remaster.

Yet Sony continues to ignore the fans.

We even had a fan demake and a karting spin off made by fans, the fans are super passionate.

Instead if capitalising on all this Sony just ignores it and pretends tbis game doesnt even exist.

I really don't understand Sony leadership
Bloodbourne is getting a movie and rumors suggest possibly remake/remasters. Also it’s been rumored they were trying to get a remaster done by by virtuosos but pulled the project when they botched the horizon zero dawn pc port.

Demon’s Souls was remastered/remade… and Bloodborne was arguably the bigger/better game anyway. It’ll happen and probably this gen. Is it meme status now? Yes… but it’s still likely.

If there is a movie then definitely will have a remaster.

Sony is all about that quick PC cash grab no matter what it takes (including nonsensical stuff like porting games like R&C Rift Apart, Sackboy, Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, etc, that all flopped miserably), but when it comes to stuff that would benefit PlayStation players they suddenly can't find the time and resources to do it.

The crazy thing is they wouldn't have had to put tht much time into it and it would be a big seller like TLOU Remaster and others still selling millions.

TLoU Pt 2 got a $10 remaster and a full price rerelease, Bloodborne could easily get away with a $20 or more charge for the upgrade just for 60fps and 4K.

I expect that last part is true. Even if Sony owns the IP I expect that From still has ownership of the engine, assets etc.

For Demons Souls they had to get the engine from From Software and essentially work over the top of it IIRC

We over delivered, we can't do that again or consumers will begin to expect too much.

You would think that's all the more reason for a Bloodborne PC release or remaster, yet we still have nothing but silence from them.

Does Totoki or whatever his name just hate bloodborne or something?
