These videos are from the Insomniac leak. They also had other ones from newer builds.

Don't know if it's authentic or where they might be going with it... but it's not exactly what I'm looking for from a Wolverine game.
These videos are from pretty early builds from many years ago. When way closer to release the games look and feel way better.

Also please dont judge games on Alpha builds.
I'd say the videos in the OP aren't alpha, or even pre-alpha builds. They are prototype or first playable builds, we saw a couple leaked unfinished vertical slices that looked better.

If the game releases in late 2026, pretty likely they'll be that 2026 year in beta and release candidate, and pretty likely they may be in alpha this and next year.

These videos are from years ago. The current build of the game must look way better than this. And by launch will look way better than the currrent build.

I wonder if SIE will remember console owners exist
This is a PS5 game.

and have Insomniac put together a (polished) Wolverine demo for PS5 players this holiday season.
This game will sell a lot, pretty likely will break their records without any demo. They don't need to waste resources making a demo, it would only delay the release of the game.

Well if Wolverine is another spiderman in a logan coat of paint
It isn't
hope we get visceral hack and slash combat and robust stealth system
This is in the game, we saw powerpoints mentioning it and in other videos from the Insomniac leaks some builds showcasing it.
And why is there fall damage in a wolverine game 🤣
Pretty likely because this is not a final game and it's just a prototype. So still isn't implememted (or who is playing it disabled it).

I dont think its an open world game. But yeah a motorcycle if it has open world
We saw in the leaked documents that it isn't an open world game. Will be similar to let's say GoW 2018, "wide linear". Several big linear portions around a hub area. In this case as I remember two separate locations, each one hub areas.

Or at least this was what they planned when made the leaked document that mentioned it. But the document was made maybe half a dozen years away from the release, so things can change.

On a serious note people should be more worried about story than gameplay in the case of wolverine, Insomniac for all their faults do a pretty good job on the gameplay front.

You can never take anything as a certainty. They don't "need" to make a demo to boost sales; they "should" make a demo as a thank-you favor of appreciation to their console community. That they might get a few extra sales along the way is just a bonus.

Besides, for 'delaying the game', the simultaneous development for the PC version is already delaying the game (for console owners). The extra time could also give even more to the way of polish/optimization for Day 1. We are not talking about a major delay here for a demo, just something closer to at tops 3 months.

There should be no issue especially if many positions to take time for the demo are opt-in and people are compensated for taking time out on the demo. Again, this is standard practice in the industry; taking time out from main dev to build demos is almost as old as the industry itself. The only reason it's been shamed now is due to dumb theatrics around crunch that got popularized by pseudo-progressive gaming types who completely ignored that even back in the '80s and '90s a lot of crunch was compensated for in extra pay and benefits.

It wasn't the slave labor that spaces like Twitter made it out to be, by and large. Outside of very rare examples i.e Sonic Xtreme, but then in most of those cases the games just end up cancelled). The Core Tomb Raider games were also notorious for crunch but, again, the teams were well-compensated with royalties on sales & other stuff. The problem there was Eidos wanting to pump out too many sequels too soon, burning out morale among the devs.

Open world is their formula. No getting away from it unfortunately.

A wide linear Naughty Dog style would have been infinitely more preferable.

Wolverine should drive a car or a bike, him walking around like that if goofy as hell.

An open world Wolverine game is a pretty stupid concept, he is not Spider-man.
Is it open world? I thought is was linear open w traditional mission types

Edit: I mean now thinking about an open world Wolverine game isn’t that bad I was now thinking of inFAMOUS parkour movement but wolverine. Wolverine would have to have crazy lounges & or some sort of long range attack like torpedoing from a wall to the sky & coming back down w some sort of slow mo similarly like when you change weapons in ratchet & clank rift apart or previous R&C games

Yeah they should of gone for it instead of Venom
I think where getting a Venom game in 2025 to synergies w Venom 3 this holiday. It is also probably the reason why we haven’t gotten SM2 DLC yet because insomniac likely working on Venom 2025 & Wolverine 2026 & SM2 2027/2028 & Ratchet & Clank 2030

Hopefully they double down on R&C it’s so dumb PS hasn’t turn the R&C team into a 2 or even 3 team since & R&C brought almost 500 million in revenue w a budget of 70 million & it likely took Insomniac 3 years to make or at the very least license out R&C to toys for bob or other studio id like to see a 3d Mario like platformer but Ratchet & Clank or a rogue like R&C both w 4 player online coop

Of course they did, because it usually meant more work. But here's the thing: this is an industry and gamers are the customers. Sometimes you have to put in extra on a job, extra you otherwise might not have wanted to do. But sometimes it's worth it, and I think demos are a case where it can definitely be worth it for customers, just as they were back during E3.

If the devs are getting paid for the time out to build a demo, I don't see any issue. Heck, Wolverine is already coming out later than it would've otherwise because of PC simultaneous development. What's a few months to make a small demo for your main customer base going to really affect in the grand scheme on top of that, which would be a negative?

Outside of more dev time of course but, again, this is a late 2026 game seemingly anyway. If they still want to hit that date and make a demo on top of that, crunch may be needed. Just incentivize the crunch (fair pay, perks etc.) and make most of it opt-in. That way it's fair.

Why is it entitlement of would-be customers with PS5s who may already be feeling weary on their investment due to other strategies from SIE, and would be reassured in a nice little demo of an upcoming 1P AAA game they could be deciding between buying Day 1 or just waiting for an inevitable PC port to Steam?

Or, those who weren't too high on Spiderman 2 and might be reserving wanting to buy Wolverine at all?

Most people aren't, but at least a few of the most important people are. You know, the diehards who are super-into these kind of games, super-into SIE 1P titles, and the such. The ones who'd set the sales pace for future sales of the game after launch period or so.
Nah because you are literally asking developers to spend time to create a demo for a game 2 years out, that also recently suffered a set back. We don't even know what is really going on with Insomniac or what they could have even possibly thrown out. There is literally no upside to dropping a demo 2 years out - for fan service. Screams entitlement because them pesky PC players have a buggy incomplete build , that does nothing but ruin the game for them or anyone who watches it.

Devs creating demos for E3 literally took them up to 6 months to create according to Naughty Dog. Why would yoi ask them to pull resources from the game, considering how long games are now taking to be made.

Then you go and say they must crunch to make this short demo, that may not even reflect the final game in anyway 🤔.

If a short Wolverine demo will somehow alleviate your discontent with the PS5 then you might as well sell the system (and I am not saying that's what you should do), but if anyone feels that way, just get rid of the system lol.

I wasn't too impressed with Spiderman 2, but the team that worked on Spiderman 2 isn't necessarily involved with Wolverine... Why should one team that's already suffered with their game getting leaked now be subjected to crunch to make it up to Spiderman 2 buyers.

The die hards aren't the majority when it comes to Insomniac sales..there is literally no upside to anything you're asking for.

What setbacks did Wolverine suffer due to the ransomware leak? Game development wasn't impeded due to that; it was just a bad look for Insomniac. Unfortunate, but it happened and the incomplete build is out there (on PC). They didn't suddenly stop development on the game because of that ransomware hack, but yeah morale may've taken a dip and that could've slowed down some parts of the pipeline.

Only for a brief bit though, maybe a few days or a week at most. Again, these are professionals and they can't sulk forever due to a leaked build of the game. If anything, personal info getting out with the hack would've caused larger complications than the build leaking, but at that point it's up to SIE and Sony to assure the affected devs that they'll be fully taken care of, compensated etc. if anything got compromised, and all proper legal channels/options taken BTS.

Devs creating demos for E3 literally took them up to 6 months to create according to Naughty Dog. Why would yoi ask them to pull resources from the game, considering how long games are now taking to be made.

Well, studios like Insomniac are large enough to where a portion of the studio could just work on building out a demo while the rest of the devs work on the main game. Game development isn't linear, and it isn't just one part at a time.

Then you go and say they must crunch to make this short demo, that may not even reflect the final game in anyway 🤔.

It could have a positive effect on the final game, in helping get certain assets potentially finished faster, if the team selected the right portion to build a demo out of. Especially if those are assets that will be present in a lot of the game, therein getting a good amount of asset contents knocked out of the way.

I never understood this mentality that demos were/are inherently bad or can only impede development. In some cases, demos can even help guide development along a better path because they can force the team to decide on certain design decisions that help shape the rest of the game. I think some people took the visual downgrades some games got, as the only thing of worth out of demos and that's why they demonize them nowadays (among other reasons).

If a short Wolverine demo will somehow alleviate your discontent with the PS5 then you might as well sell the system (and I am not saying that's what you should do), but if anyone feels that way, just get rid of the system lol.

That's a bit of a reach to make IMO.

I wasn't too impressed with Spiderman 2, but the team that worked on Spiderman 2 isn't necessarily involved with Wolverine... Why should one team that's already suffered with their game getting leaked now be subjected to crunch to make it up to Spiderman 2 buyers.

It's not that they should feel "obligated" or forced to "make things up" with anyone. It's that there could be genuine would-be customers who might be a bit more weary due to what Spiderman 2 did (or didn't do) for them. To those types, they aren't going to necessarily know or care about the nuance of specific development teams that to them all share the same Insomniac name.

And again using terms like "subjugated" makes it sound like I'm asking they should be forced to. That's not the case. SIE should incentivize them to want to make a more polished small-slice demo, if anything. Make it worth the team's while, don't force them into doing it "or else".

The die hards aren't the majority when it comes to Insomniac sales..there is literally no upside to anything you're asking for.

No but like the diehards when it comes to buying consoles (particularly early on), the diehards in this case are the ones who are always there Day 1 (usually, barring any drop in interest), and whose support play a key part in driving WOM and hype to get the sales that come later from non-diehards.

That WOM and hype is essentially free marketing for SIE, it would be foolish to not put any value in it.

Yeah Id love for them to double down on R&C with some side games. The price should also not be $70 for R&C, didnt help the series compared to PS4 R&C

I wonder if SIE will remember console owners exist and have Insomniac put together a (polished) Wolverine demo for PS5 players this holiday season.

Or is it just gonna be more ignoring the screwy optics at hand here, usual suspects chiming in to say Sony don't need to do anything because of record sales & profits (as if that has any correlation or relevance to what I just suggested 🤣)

As much as I like Demo’s, having a demo a year out from a game will be too difficult. And it being so incomplete, you’ll bound to get haters trying to bury the game just from the impressions of the demo.
Just wish they put staff on Wolverine instead of Venom, so we could get it quicker, but Im sure both will be fine

When has Sony actually put out a demo for their games? Conjuring up a scenario where Insomniac needs to pump out a demo and being upset that they didn’t do something they’ve historically never done is some peak dooming lmao That’s wild

On Wolverine itself, dunno what to make of it. Traversal looks like those Hulk games and not sure how I feel about that, but I wanna see how a more polished gameplay segment looks before judging it

Yeah the whole traversal thing seems like it’s going to be a problem here.

1.Supposedly this isnt a open world game.

2. Plenty of open world games dont have the main character flying, swinging or driving. It will be fine

I get that it’s like pre alpha build footage and whatnot with a much lower bar in presentation than their last gen games…

But if it’s still some kinda ballpark representation of their art direction I’m kinda disappointed. Nothing to do with Jean either. Jackman Wolverine is kinda never what I think of when thinking Wolverine. Don’t dislike him but kinda consider it its own thing too.

I can’t complain since Xmen 97 actually delivered.
