However, end of 2022 (Ampere) :

So that would mean that Sony has sold another 31.7 million PS5s since then, compared with just 9.8 million for Microsoft.

PS5:X|S = 1,6:1

PS5:X|S = 2,2:1

PC gaming is in decline because the cost is so high to maintain console level or above performance. That cost ratio is going to continue to rise now that the PS5 Pro is coming out.

It's actually the opposite as years go by in a generation. The pro is a niche console not indicative of the performance you need to play those games on PC.

With a 4060 or 6700 you can play 9th generation games just fine until the end of the generation or even during the cross generational period.

Upcoming AMD and Nvidia cards should make all those users with Pascal and Polaris cards upgrade as they will have a sizable price performance improvement over the cards they have.

When has the ratio not been 2:1? In fact it was much more in line until supply was freed up for PS5. That's when the ratio opened up.

It's 2:1 lifetime, but what is it for the last year? What will it be next year.

Why do you struggle with simple concepts?
Nah, PlayStation fanboys all over the internet were making up 3:1 numbers. As always, fanboys eat crow.

That's missing at least 140 million gen 9 consoles in the chart.
For the Switch, there are 3 groups:

Some say the Switch is part of Generation 8
Others say it's part of generation 9
The last group says it has its ass between 2 chairs: it's in a class of its own.

The truth is that Nintendo is no longer in direct competition with the 2 others (Sony & M$), and is now releasing its consoles between 2 generations.

The highest end cards aren't what define generations in PC world but rather the amount of people who have the lower end rigs for whom PC games will still be built for.

Hardly anyone own 4060s and 6700s.

The percentage of those with high end cards is diminishing as overall sales of video cards plummet.

This is why AMD said they're not even going to focus on those cards moving forward.
