Allows you to gently drop bad news through vague messaging and a long string of caveats and hedges. Also, you can have your PR and lawyers go through every second of the podcast before you drop it to protect yourself from any lawsuits.

Consoles arent going anywhere but ports are coming.They would not hide any big clearly positive news in a podcast. I expect broad statements like "Xbox will still have exclusives", "we believe our best years in the console space are ahead of us", "we'll keep making consoles", etc, combined with the revelation of the first ports and possibly changes to Gamepass.
If it's a podcast, it minimises blowback from hardcore fans compared to if it were a video or livestream. No dislikes, negative comments, etc.
