Your personal breaking point for Playstation.

We all have differing opinions on this forum about the health and strategic direction of Sony and Playstation.

Some believe that Playstation is having the best generation ever, that revenue being the highest in PlayStation's history points to a healthy generation, console and future of the company.

Others believe that the PC ports, remasters, lack of new IPs, relatively poor adoption rates of the PS5, slowdown in hardware sales and focus on Xbox, third party, and GaaS are killing the brand.

Regardless of which camp you fall into, what would be the breaking point for you to say "I was wrong, the other side is correct" or, "this is definitive proof that playstation is/isn't doomed"?

If you're going to reply to this thread about how you're already correct, don't bother posting. I'm not interest in hearing people sniff their own farts. I want others to hear the varying opinions of what would change the minds of different opinions.

Modz halp in keeping this thread free of attacks on personal views, in the hope that we can all learn from one another. Aww, how nice. 🌈🦄☁️

Weird that you would make this thread today. Let's look at what xbox focussed podcasts are talking about.

Oh they are discussing the death of xbox, and that are angry that xbox are now going to support playstation.

Last year we had a phil perspective on xbox games on PlayStation. It wasn't positive.

Today we had Ceo of MS stating they will support playstation in the future. Thus xbox revenue will be based for significant part on playstation consoles.

Seems like a pretty good day for playstation today.

I would think positively of Playstation/Sony if the following were the case:
  • No more exclusivity deals
  • Everything is multiplat
  • No PSN requirement on singleplayer games
  • They developed more games from their Japanese studios like Asobi
    • If Ape Escape 4 in particular existed
  • We got remasters/remakes of games from their pre-PS3 era catalogue (Dark Cloud, Okage: Shadow King, Arc the Lad, Legend of Dragoon, etc)
  • They stopped requiring games to be censored to get a release on Playstation/didn't refuse games from release on Playstation

Of course you would as a PC gamer.

I've reported this post. I don't view other gaming forums or read news that isn't posted here. Despite my current disgruntlement with Sony, this website is still the best and most honest gaming site on the internet.

I don't give a fuck about twitter, YouTube or twitch. Never have. I don't give a shit what some shill on SM says. I want to hear YOUR thoughts on Sony, not what you think my thoughts are.

Read the OP, delete your post.

Just your usual SonyToo thread to feel better.
Pointless posts in a thread that specifically states not to post shit like this. Take your crying and coping elsewhere.

Post YOUR thoughts.

I appreciate certain aspects of Microsoft's playbook, but they fail me in one extremely important front: Microsoft doesn't make games
like somehow or another Microsoft is really bad at putting out...anything, and at least Sony has Team Asobi, Microsoft shuttered the one studio they had that appealed to me (Tango Gameworks)
Of course you would as a PC gamer.
Yes, but surely you can see the issue with Playstation being in a state where games that can get uncensored releases on even the Switch of all things are unable to do so on Playstation. Its really something I'd like to see Sony reverse their stance on, rather than nannying us.
I may get made fun of for this, especially as this is rather old news now, but I'm still a bit salty at Sony shutting down the English release of Omega Labyrinth Z after its localization had already been completed and it was set to release. Beyond it being a game I was looking forward to, imagine putting time and money into licensing a game and translating it only to be told you can't release it by a platform holder. Even though it was already on Vita and PS4 in Japan.

I quoted phil spencer and mentioned ceo of MS, they are quite relevant.

But seriously, it's just gaming. Lighten up. The great thing is that even if a competitor of your favorite platform wins. You can just buy that console and play there. And everything will be okay.

I think this is a pretty good take.

I think the worst outcome I could foresee is if they shuttered all their studios, and laid off all the developers. I wouldn't even know who was "right" at that point though, because so many things would've had to go disastrously wrong. Even if it got to that point, I would expect them to divest the studios to other publishers, if they truly could not continue to publish video games effectively.
