I beat Alan Wake 2 last week and HOLY SHIT what a game. Now I honestly want to see it win the TGA award over BG3. Currently playing Lies of P which is also amazing, at the final boss currently(or second final boss).

I've done a lot of gaming this year but I have room for maybe one more. I've been thinking Octopath Traveler II, even though I wasn't a fan of the first one, maybe this one will be an improvement. Either that or I'll give the PS5 a break until Infinite Wealth drops.

I picked up Remedium Sentinels (RS) on PS5 this evening. I've had a hankering for some Vampire Survivors (VS) and, of course, it's on every conceivable platform EXCEPT PlayStation. Anyway, Remedium Sentinels isn't great. I have Vampire Survivors on Xbox, but I've been dying to play it on PlayStation and earn those sweet trophies, and the different between VS and RS is crazy.

RS is mind numbingly slow. All the mechs that I've unlocked so far (about 4) move at a snail's pace, meanwhile the enemies are either the same speed or, in some cases, faster. You also don't deal a lot of damage unless you have multiple maxed out abilities, so you kill the enemies slowly, and since they move so quickly, once you become overrun it's damn near impossible to wipe out the hoard to get a chance to breathe. Most matches ended up being a cat and mouse game where I'd run around in circles, drawing the hoard behind me, and pick up the scraps of EXP from the ones I managed to kill.

Speaking of EXP, the drop rate for it is busted as hell. In VS, enemies drop experience probably 80% of the time or more, but in RS, it feels like they drop EXP 25% of the time if you're lucky. Combine that with the meager damage that you deal, especially early in the match, and you can spend a lot of time trying to kill enemies that don't even reward you with anything. Who thought this was a good idea?

Some other issues I had with the game include a limited number of attacks and upgrades, which leads to a huge lack of variety for builds. Other than the two mechs that use the same melee attack, which is exclusive to them, any mech can learn any attack/skill, and some are far worse than others, which leads to the crappy ones not being picked. As I mentioned above, the enemies are very fast and your mech isn't, so the decoy ability is pretty much necessary if you want to actually finish the match. However, the decoy is also useless on the first couple levels because it explodes almost instantly and doesn't draw the enemies to it as a result. So you're kind of forced to pick decoy and upgrade it ASAP if you want to stand a chance at finishing the match. Like I said, no variety because you're railroaded into picking the good upgrades, otherwise it's game over.

I'm sure I could think of more things to say about this, but I've already prattled on enough. Hopefully the Vampire Survivors devs will finally release it on PlayStation at some point because there doesn't seem to be a clone that's just as good on PS as of now.

I downloaded Streets of Rage 4, picked it up for like 8 bucks in the sale, looking forward to giving it a go.

I just played Vampire Survivors on my phone, I had to uninstall it though because it was way too addicting. I once played for 10 hours in 1 day 😳 As much as I loved the game, if it came to PS I wouldn’t play it.

There are a bunch of VS knock offs on Steam and the App Store and they all look awful.

Crew Motorsport is so great.

It is indeed a mess at first. UI designer should be fired and all dialogue should be muted to avoid it polluting the game with non stop dialogue thru any race or free ride. Legit non-stop, extremely annoying and distracting. Deadzone and stick settings at default feels like trash and too weighty but can be remedied a bit on user end. It still needs a pass from dev tuning tho.

Also noticed the driving line is actually a source of BAD INFO. Complete fail. Keep it braking line at most but game enjoyment has improved significantly since. It’s borked and will lead to worse race performance with unnecessary braking with your cornering. It’s sorta hilarious how they fucked it up so bad and amplified because AI kinda goes hard at 4 Star difficulty to win races. Whatever… turning it off fixes all.

Aside from all that, there’s a vibe to presentation that is chill. The game has a decent challenge so that’s not what I mean… but it’s close enough to sega blue skies and bright reds.

I’ve played and moderately enjoyed the previous two games. I don’t remember enjoying either two anywhere near as much this early on tho. Definitely in for the long haul. Love it

I tune audio to favor soundtrack. With dialogue muted entirely and soundtrack up. I now feel like the sound design is actually pretty exceptional. Great soundtrack. Everything just fits together with both visuals and audio. A real joy.

Back on destiny for new season. PvP in good shape. Season content is ok. Huge loot dump that’s a bit overkill too. Otherwise same shit. Depends how the dungeon hits this weekend.

Will try wrap up Crysis 3 this weekend. Not liking it as much as I did Crysis 2. Feels iterative and low effort this time. Still great game but not feeling it as much to have plowed thru it in one sitting etc…

Final Fantasy XVI, Alan Wake 2 and Forza Motorsport 2023. It's a shuffle, but it's a fun shuffle. I am not buying any more games from what I can see in December nor January, so I should be able to finish them.

Just finished MGS3 - first time playing it, I have played the rest of them.
This is the best one too, great game.

Yup. MGS3 is by far the best in the series. Did you play Snake Eater or subsistence with the free camera? I always think about replaying it but the remake is almost here!

All the odd numbered games in MGS are fantastic. Yes I love MGSV, best third person shooter sandbox game to date… Less of a kojima movie than others but it is what it is and I still think it’s a tremendous action game.

2 and 4 kinda suck. Raiden is a loser and those games waste too much time trying to make sense of nano machines and whatever other garbage they wrote into MGS2 and attempting to find some clusterfuck, roundabout way to waste time answering in MGS4.

Arbiter in Halo 2 and Raiden in MGS2 are the best examples as to why moving away from title characters people adore, characters who make up a good chunk of your love for the game…. Is the dumbest and most shit idea ever. It doesn’t work. It’s never worked. People who have this idea are stupid. Games are not movies… Snake is YOU.

What’s even worse is that those games even trolled users with Snake and Chief being the only ones featured on box art. We were swerved. I’m a huge Bungie fan… if it wasn’t for XBL and halo PvP launch… halo 2 SUCKED.

Atreus spin-off game… oh please fuck off with that shit 😂. No one wants Loki’s lame ass gameplay and to listen to him whine like a bitch.

I played the one that is a part of the MGS collection v1. Which is the HD version I believe
