Ugh that's total hogwash... The DC version on Steam is most certainly a $10 upgrade path if you're an existing owner.

then on steam on pc
then Directors cut upgrade for both ps5 and pc
Now I plan to buy ps5 directors cut physical version.

Xbox and it's fans want Xbox to be PlayStation so much it's sad.
The funny part is that it's not even releasing on Xbox and since it isn't the DC version pretty much everyone who wanted to play it on PC had multiple opportunities already to buy it for less than $20.
Great game by the way despite Kojima's attempt to ruin by refusing to edit out the dull dialogs.

well overall I agree, 505 gets the money from MS, not KojiPro.
How 505 pays KojiPro for it is up to them.

With that said, I hope everyone has played this game, it's fantastic, and totally different. I loved it.
Kojipro is doing the actual process of creating and pushing a specific build to Windows Store I imagine.
But yeah, it's all under their publishing contract.
It looks like they're making a bespoke build which has the technical enhancements from the DC but not the added content.
We'll know for sure in just 3 days anyway. But I'll probably give this another go with some cheat engine stuff to speed up the resource building roads stuff.
Well no matter what the content of the game contains it's a separate build because to have a game in Windows Store you have to meet a bunch of requirements and implement different "hooks" in your game, like Achievements and other things like how the installer/uninstaller works.
Basically you can make zero changes to an actual game and still have to do a Windows Store build.
It's also harder to push patches to Windows Store due to their cert process, which is why so many games are out of date or basically abandoned w/ patches there.
But yeah it's interesting what they said about gameplay vs. content too. It's possible they'll market the extra content more like DLC or MTX which is why the base game may have some of the DC enhancement.
Either way expect to see lots of trolling Xbox fans post Death Stranding Achievement screenshots lol

Sony probably is now including subscription clause when they give publishing rights to others publishers.
It is really a shame they let the MLB situation happens again just because subscriptions services were not written in contracts before.
I hope Direct Cut contract is made by Jumbo and so have all the clauses saying the game can’t be put in subscriptions services without Sony agree.

It was a pretty cool game. I've only played it on the ps4, but since I've got a ps5 now, I'll eventually get around to playing the director's cut.
