None of the games mentioned have the production value of a ND game, they are not going to pump out games like TLoU like FromSoftware or Insomniac are able to pump out their games. I don't want ND to change to keep pace with other studios, I want them to keep doing their thing.

ND is the least of Sony's problem. Sony's problem is that they simply don't have enough studios or partners to keep the same pace of releases we used to have now that games take much longer to make.
Yeah they dont have the production value of ND but most dont, thats on Sony to give them more. They released Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy and TLOU2 all within 2016-2020. So I expect the same now.

My question is, why does Sony with a guaranteed 100m+ installed base every single gen and most of their AAA games selling 10m+ is so afraid to invest on expanding PlayStation?

Because they are dumb. They need to invest now, there not buying huge publishers and big well established studios, so they need to invest in there own studios at least. Not get Bluepoint to help on Ragnarok…Thats a giant waste of time where they could be making there own game.

And people here keep talking about helldivers 2 and concord, if it wasnt for this forum I wouldn't even know those games existed.

I literally don't know anyone excited for those games. I wouldn't be surprised if they both flop as hard as starfield and redfall.
Helldivers 2 Im not expecting much, it will be a decent title like the first game. But not for me. Its not enough and its not a Playstation studio game.
Concord Im intrigued and hopefully will be good.

This is the trailer for Concord, 59% dislike ratio and most of the comments are talking about the burger or making fan of the game.

As for Helldivers, just look at the subreddit with only 14k users. Helldivers 2 is not going to move the needle.

I mean 59% disliking a game they have no idea what it is lol. Talks alot about todays society.

Im not surprised. I have zero expectations, I just hope it will be a good 1st person shooter/game, a story mode with some space travel lol. Either way it looks better than Fairgames

And we have a winner. This is Sony's biggest issue right now. They need quite a few more IPs to plug those holes.
I think there is a extremelly high chance that all that we are going to get from the likes of ND, Bend and Sucker Punk are going to be a single new game this gen. SSM and Guerrilla probably going to ship either one more game each or a crossgen at the end of the gen.

The output is going to be pathetic, Sony just doesn't have that many studios and the close partnerships all dried up. The likes of Haven, Firewalk, Valkyrie, Nixxes, Firesprite, Fabrik are not going to make up for anything.

Out of the big partners of the PS4 era that were not acquired like Capcom, FromSoftware, Supermassive, Ready at Dawn, Quantic Dream, etc, only Kojima Productions is still working with Sony (and also have an exclusive with MS already coming up).

I don't think people here realize how much Sony was coasting and taking their position for granted. That is without even factoring PSVR2 in the mix, if Media Molecule, London Studio and Team Asobi next games are for VR then we get even less regular PS5 games and if not that means there is no support coming for PSVR2.

It supposedly comes out this year but we have heard nothing, and to be fair the trailer doesn't show anything besides a spaceship and a burger.

I don't blame people for disliking it.

This is a very valid criticism that always seems to be downplayed on this forum.

Instead of investing and expanding their studios, Sony wastes money on headphone studios and other crap.

Whoever is in charge is doing a terrible job of managing playstation.

Their play was just GaaS and it was extremely naive and misguided, nothing came out of it despite their massive investment as anyone with good sense would expect (you don't just go out and make your own Fortnite, odds are you are just going to missfire for years and years until you hit on something, if you ever do).

If people here actually think that Haven and Firewalk are going to play a big role then they are crazy.

The concord subreddit has only 23 members, Firewalk will probably be closed down after concord fails

People here just don't understand how much Jim Ryan sucked. If not for Insomniac being handled to him and Xbox being even more incompetent their position would be completely exposed.

Jim Ryan all along was concerned about copying MS game subscription business model and containing costs through reducing the amount of games published by PlayStation.

They are lucky Microsoft is run by even stupider people, but long term this will damage the PlayStation brand. The whole company has been mismanaged for a while

PS5 just a console that plays PS4 games better 🤐
PS5 has over 3000 games according to the guy who went to check the 30fps only support. When PS5 was released and BC was announced in detail, according to Sony PS4 had over 4000 games.

Meaning launch aligned, PS5 is getting more games than PS4.
