I think Rebirth is doing well. The fact of the matter is Final Fantasy is bigger in the West than it is in Japan. Dragon Quest sits on the throne over there in Japan. And you know Square is going to squeeze more sales out of FF7 Remake after the third title is released by releasing a complete trilogy pack edition down the road.

Final Fantasy 12 being the only game to buck the sales trend post FF7. I'm happy to see that because it's a masterpiece even in it's incomplete form lol.

I really don't know what Square will do to rebound this franchise. It declining in the UK market as well.

It may not make sony happy but maybe day one on PC? At the very least sony should invest in SE to at least guarantee that FF remains a console exclusive for them. Then again with xbox on the decline, and switch 2 probably not capable of running these games, maybe sony doesnt have to?

I guess its what is FF worth to sony in Japan? Can sony reverse market trends with exclusive monster hunter, fromsoft, and FF games? Would adding dragon quest to the pile help? PS5 has an installed base of over 5 million, so WHAT are these people doing with them? Thats the conundrum i think sony has to figure out, how can they reverse Japanese home console decline, or do they dabble in the handheld domain again?

In theory the concept of the Portal makes sense for Japan if the switch is anything to go by, maybe emphasize that for a time and try to cut the price of the PS5 drastically?

FFXII is the GOAT FF, after all. Makes sense.

Who cares about Japan, final fantasy has always gotten most of it's sales outside of Japan.

This isn't the 80s anymore

Well price of the console is def too high but even so there's close to 6 million PS5's in Japan. Yet Software sales are abysmal for almost everything unless a game is bundled. Sony's insistence to step away from any sort of good marketing this generation is also catching up in that specific market once it's not price related.

I don't think PC day and date would make a huge difference in this specific market. PS4 also had this issue in Japan but eventually games like FF 15, Monster Hunter and DQ reversed things a bit. I thought the Portal would have been a bigger deal to Sony given it could have done some damage in Japan and maybe even get people to buy a PS5 knowing they can take some of their library / F2P games on the go, but I don't even know if they are producing more than 500 per months at this stage :ROFLMAO:

Square has unfortunately over the years tainted the FF brand with bad spin offs and underwhelming mainland games and it's all catching up to them just as they tightened the leash on quality control.

Only thing to do is just keep making quality entries, better marketing and try to not alienate the remaining loyal fans.

He should have had being faithful to the source material in mind while elevating the production values. That's my opinion anyway. :)

I never got into Kingdom Hearts, but from what I've heard people say he massacred that series too lol. He has no business handling stories.
Definitely understand and respect your opinion. 100% agree with Kingdom Hearts 3 was a jumbled mess. The guy tried to fit 7 different earlier games into one which killed the franchise in my opinion.

Good to be back out of street again.

Anyway, it is not a bad number considering they were giving prequel for free if you preorder the digital version.

A lot of people willing to go digital once just for that.

Top ten PS5 launch sales in Japan:

Not bad for FF16 and Rebirth considering the competition from other JRPGs like Like A Dragon and Persona that many have said are gaining more recognition. Kinda surprised Persona 3 Reload only did 76k at launch in Japan.

we can now basically say that Persona 6 >> Final Fantasy 16/7R in sales most likely. Just utterly dumbfounding.

What dumbfuckery is going on here, fucking hell.
Just because japan stopped buying great games and buying low tier garbage which no one heard off, doesn't mean that some series is failling or in decline.
