According to him sony is going to buy CDPR and EA?
No he just states that Herman Hulst has visited CDPR multiple times the last few months. Sony are without a doubt trying to get some of the biggest publishers out there - and someone who can compete with ActiBlizz's output of games.

Wouldn't mind Sony doing something with MGS if they bring their A game. Maybe a series to fill in the blanks between Peace walker, MGSV and MGS.

Sony ain’t acquiring a big publisher or studio. They know they can’t win a spending contest with MS.
They don't need to outspend really. They only need a few critical purchases, which is what Jim Ryan was talking about with Bungie. They can utilise specific companies in a more efficient and impactful way than throwing $100b at buying big IPs. Everyone talks about EA killing studios, yet Microsoft buying up all these borderline already failed devs is going to somehow be their salvation when they can't even get their currently owned studios producing anything of note? 2-3 medium acquisitions and Sony is good. This is less about needing those specific studious and more about denying them to Microsoft.

Just look at the output of Insomniac since Sony bought them! They released more and better games than MS's 25 or so studios!

Im really happy for thr Crunchyroll news, I'm surprised it took this long. Even Gamepass gives 3 months of Crunchyroll but not Sony who owns them

Ea is the biggest videogames publisher in the world
And yes they're the number 1 publisher in xbox too
If sony will buy ea then that would be a huge win for them

EA is way overpriced but at the same time they need something to protect them from leaving Playstation. There must be another way instead of buying this mammoth. Buy shares and make a 10 years deal?

For the same price they could get WB, 2K, Square and more. Find another way Sony 🫤

No person in their right mind would risk getting sued by a billion dollar company for disclosing confidential information.

He's either lying or out of his meds
Agreed. I don’t think Sony actually cares if Disney buys EA because Sony has a working relationship with Disney because disney wants to be associated with Spider man, who sony have the rights to. If anything Sony probably breathes a sigh of relief that it’s Disney and not MS.
Sony need to, and should focus on Japan and the East. Sony can’t compete with all these massive western big tech companies in the west, but in the East, Sony is the big tech company (sort of). Of course western companies could always try to make something happen in the East but it’s be a tremendous gamble for both companies, especially a Japanese one.

They don't have to. And MS are pretty tied up for the next few years - they can't buy another big publisher after Bethesda and ActiBlizz.

PlayStation Is Hiring For A Manager To Identify "Inorganic Growth Opportunities Through Acquisitions & Investments".
There is a loophole for that. They could easily buy into the publisher bit by bit until they own the whole thing. They don't have to buy the whole chunk at once even though it's more efficient that way. Not that I'm personally expecting them to do that.

You don't get it. It's not about who has the deepest pockets; these publishers and studios are seeing, in real-time, the degradation of release quality that happens under Microsoft ownership. They have seen several high-profile departures from acquired Microsoft studios/publishers since 2018, and they know what type of model Microsoft wants to prioritize for the industry, plus what that model does in affecting the quality, development, distribution, promotion, and lifecycle of the games thereof.

Microsoft can't buy anyone who simply does NOT want to sell to them, and in light of those facts plus information MS would have preferred not gotten out thanks to the regulatory look into ABK acquisition, quite frankly a lot more publishers and big studios simply do not want to sell to them. Maybe the shareholders and BoD would like to, but they know the creative talent will exit en masse if they make that move, thus rendering the entire M&A a waste of money and time.

Well, the studio making the Metal Gear Solid since many years ago is Sony Pictures.

As I remember what Sony announced was that select anime content from Crunchyroll was going to be included in Sony Pictures Core in the future, and that around 100 Sony Pictures Core rotating movies will be included in PS+ Premium.

And just posted this:

He's wrong here suggesting that Sony would buy EA: Sony said they won't make more (big) acqusitions until the mid to long term: they moved away most of the remaining budget for investments and acquisitions they had for the current FY.

And said they will sell 80% of their banks division (a process that will take 2-3 years) and plan to use cash for entertainment focused acquisitions.
