The thing about Alan Wake II possibly bombing that a lot of people are overlooking is the simple fact that it is a VERY late sequel to a platform-exclusive original that the mainstream quickly moved on from and forgot.
I hope it didn't bomb even though I didn't get it. It looks solid and I hope they continue with sequels in the future.

Installbase is trying to lowball the PS5 sales to 900K.
How TF are they trying to make things fit this narrative?
Over 1 million confirmed by Mat. Aquamarine is a good leaker but she's an Xbot and she always downplays PS.

Lowest November for Xbox since 2006 according to Enpleinjour on IB 😬

There's also a graph I don't know how to post it
  • XBS is the lowest November in Xbox history since the OG Xbox days or 360 2006

Installbase loonies on parade:

What I’m suggesting is, a decline in Xbox hardware sales does not mean a decline in Xbox gaming or Xbox success these days. In fact, it’s the opposite.
Xbox hardware down, Xbox success up!

These results are pretty dire across the board. I think a big part of it is as @foxisdabest says above, the price is just too high in general.
1m in sales and only 9% down from PS4's equivalent year's November = dire. Revenue much higher than the comparable PS4 year btw.

PS5 likely will have a relative low december unless some deals are announced before christmas.
If no deals are announced one would imagine PS5 is tracking to plan, no? Given their target is still 25m.

They did lift the brand, it seems. Xbox gaming has been posting record breaking revenue in 2023.
By buying up a bunch of new revenue streams, yes. Same poster says they've never been more profitable - Xbox has not revealed its profitability.

Their success isn't tied to Xbox. They're making record profits!

Where is most of their revenue coming from?!

Most of their games will FLOP without Xbox. They would lose more than 10 million Game Pass subscribers without Xbox.

Xbox can't fail according to them.

Here's the chart I was talking about earlier showing it's the worst November for Xbox since 2006. I suck at reading charts but it's there somewhere 🫠

They would make more profits without the console and game pass. The hardware is a black hole for them. Activision and King can't pay for everything in the division.

Is that how Dreamcast fanboys acted in 1999 - 2000 with the PS2 fast approaching? Knowing their consoles demise was imminent? Just being straight up delusional about the reality of what's happening to their plastic box?

Xbox fans in deep denial thinking the deep pockets of Microsoft can save a hardware if no one wants it. Game Pass will never succeed unless Nintendo and PlayStation allows it on their system.... And it's in Playstation's best interest to keep that shit off their ecosystem for as long as possible.

They also are under the assumption Xbox doesn't need hardware to succeed. Yes, they can go 3rd party and ditch consoles, but by doing so they also risk losing the 10+ million Xbox Gamepass subs. Without hardware growth, Game Pass cannot grow on consoles. Do they not realize their ignorance undermines reality 🤣.

I need Xbox to take down Sega with them, so let's hope they stick around long enough to bleed Sega dry in the process.

With that said, I truly did not expect the Xbox to implode like this, this year. It all fell apart once Activision buyout came into the picture ironically.

Mat Piscatella to IGN
"As you'll recall, last November was the first that PS5 and Xbox Series saw nearly full available supply. The pent-up demand that had been in place since these consoles launched finally started being met last year, and basically every unit that found its way to market sold. PlayStation 5 unit sales in November 2023, for example, are more than double the amount seen in November 2021. So on a year-on-year basis sure, it doesn't look great. But pulling the lens back a bit, we're still up against the comp issue. But instead of seeing huge growth because we were comparing to a supply constrained market (like we saw last year), we're seeing the reverse now, where we are comparing to a period of elevated supply and existing demand getting satiated. This comp issue is going to be a challenge in December as well and will finally start settling out in January. Tl;dr - it's (probably) not as bad as it looks."

That person is so dumb, of course it would be down in dollar sales since PS5 was $60 cheaper than last year and for one day it was $210 cheaper than their $560 Ragnarok bundle.

Even if the PS5 sold the exact same amount as last year it would still be down in dollar sales.

Overall mediocre or bad hw numbers.

Ps5 s ok, but i thought it ll do around 1.2.
xbox numbers re so bad. Like wtf?

Switch s doing ok numbers for its age and garbage hardware. My mate bought ps5 after owning switch for years. He s not touching switch anymore lol. They need switch 2 in april. Next year might be brutal.

Sony needs 100 bucks price cut imo. Going into 4th year with 400 and 500 machines isnt going to cut it. Also i dont see them reaching 25M target considering mediocre lineup from first party.

A couple of comments:

- It's an Epic Games Store exclusive which.. no one wants. Virtually no one wants to buy games on EGS because the frontend and features are so bad...
- Great reviews among journalists but word of mouth isn't that good. I've seen most people saying it's a bit boring and too much "out there".
- Awards might give it more sales, but I wonder if the game's genre is even more niche than BG3.

Sony should partner with Remedy or even outright buy them. They make the exact same type of games they do and PlayStation Marketing will give them a much needed boost
