One almost has to wonder by this point, would lowering the price of games boost sales enough to increase overall profit, albeit on a thinner margin?
I don't like these new engagement lists from Mat. I bet people will use them to call new games flops when PS+ and GP games are on top. It's already happening with Gotham Knights.
Or they will ignore the bad sales of Forza or Starfield and just use the engagement list. Wow Starfield is still number 4

Microsoft closed the Activision acquisition in October. They made a big trailer, watched by millions, full of Activision IPs with the Xbox logo. It was dominating the news everywhere...and they are still double digits down.

Arguably, dollar sales are a better metric than unit sales.
If I'm a company, between selling 1M at $10 or 900k at $11.11, I'd take the second, since I'd make as much money while spending less in production costs.
The ABK acquisition really saved Xbox's software division. Even Forza and and bethesda's biggest IP are now dead franchises for them. They can now continue to mil COD and Candy Crush money until the cows come home.
NPD still uses unit sales for subscribers. So companies still see all unit sales data.

It is below Dead Insland 2 that means it is suffering to break 1 million in US.
With this year releases it probably won’t be even in top 20 yearly. Two new releases in October… it dropped 2 more spots… how many releases do you believe will happen in November and December?
