I do think it's kind of an interesting time for a changing of the guard.
Well, maybe they are just retiring because they are pretty old and millionaire.
We'll see how things shape up over the rest of the gen but it does seem like the pivot to GAAS isn't going as planned.
MLB and and GT7 have been very successful, and Destiny 2 continues being very successful. Marathon broke the Youtube record quickly achieving 19M views, which means there's a record interest for the game.
(The only commercial mistake they’ve arguably made is VR2
)
Sony said they were happy with the PSVR1 performance, and that their target for PSVR2 was to slightly improve the PSVR1 results.
PSVR2 had better launch window sales than PSVR1, no commercial mistake here. It's performing as planned.
He's replyting to a deleted tweet.
You're saying that despite Jimbo saying 10+ gaas by 2025 and none of them have hit beta yet is a sign of a smooth dev process? Not a single one?
They said until before April 2026.
-MLB (2022)
-GT7 (2022)
-Firewall Ultra (2023)
-Helldivers 2 (2024, originally planned for 2023)
-Concord (2024)
-Marathon ("at least one new IP before 2025", so probably 2024)
-Matter ("at least one new IP before 2025", so a 2024-2025 release may be realistic)
-Twisted Metal (the original rumor said it was planned to be released close to the tv show)
-Fairgame$ (Sony rarely announces games that are 2+ years away from release, so I'd bet 2025)
-TLOU Online (TLOU2 was released in 2020, it's realistic to release it before April 2026)
-London Studio new IP (their previous main game was released in 2019, so it's realistic to release their next game before April 2026)
-Horizon Online (its game director came back to Guerrilla to work on it in February 2018, to release it before April 2026 is realistic)
-Deviation's game (studio founded in nov.2019, to release before April 2026 may be realistic if not cancelled or highly rebooted)
These are 13 games. Not sure if the "10+/12 franchises releasing before April 2026" thing was firstly said before releasing / discontinuing Destruction All Stars, in that case would be 14.
When saying "more than 10" or "12" maybe they were considering that -since it's something common- a couple of them could be cancelled or delayed beyond April 2026, they'd have the 12 or "more than 10". A few games may had a delay (and Fairgame$ was progressing faster than expected), but apparently they are on track.
