I'm surprised nobody's complaining about not having a lock on or the awkward mouth movements and facial expressions. I'm currently playing it right now and it feels like they just reused everything they did in the first one and didn't add any of the modern quality of life touch ups. Such as auto dialogue its irritating having to constantly press a button just to progress text makes it feel like I'm playing an early 2000's game again but for double the price.

You couldn't have been more wrong. this is the worst take in this entire thread. Try playing the game before speaking about it.
You can’t even create a new character without pay for it.

C’mon… try playing the game before do these weird defense control.

Maybe the Steam mixed reviews are imaginary too.

This is misinformation. You can change your character less than an hour into it with currency obtainable in game. How is telling you the facts damage control?

Yeah it's solid, I only played 2 hours so far but it's fun and engaging.
Of course it is... Once this unnecessary noise eventually tapers out, the game will speak for itself. Almost every game has to have an outrage in some ways it seems.

Or maybe publishers and devs can stop saddling their work with unnecessary bullshit, and gamers can have some standards for once

Pc gamer sums it up nicely for me

Dragon's Dogma 2 has finally arrived, and the reception has been… less than favourable. On Steam it now boasts more than 13,000 user reviews, and the majority of them are negative. Only 39% of players leaving reviews have given it a positive rating. It's not off to a good start.

This "Mostly Negative" rating is down to a couple of things, the most dominant being the presence of microtransactions. As Harvey noted earlier today, the microtransactions are very silly, but they are largely for things that you can acquire very easily with hardly any work. They are entirely unnecessary. This, of course, makes them even more sus, because their existence tricks players into thinking they have to spend money to acquire more rift crystals or the ability to change their appearance, which is nonsense.

The optics are bad, and players are understandably pissed. While I think some of the furore is overblown, and we've been living with microtransactions for a long time, Capcom has done the RPG no favours. This is not a cheap game, and giving players a long list of extra charges for stupid things like camping gear and wakestones (all easily found in-game) was obviously going to piss them off. Dragon's Dogma 2 and its players deserve better.

Companies need to do better.

I heard they pulled a Konami over this.

Glad I paid for Nioh instead, CC can eat dirt.

I said about it before, that there is no lock-on.
Devs made tons of excuses. Especially one over the top when accused all games boring that's why it doesn't have good fast travel. In the end, it is all about mtx.

The time for standards was 2011... I guess we missed that boat

Why do that, though? It's to prey on unsuspecting players. You start a game, try to change your character and see that it's not available for free. So you end up spending money, only to find an item that allows you to do just that later on.

This was intentionally obscuring things to trick players. You wanna include shortcuts? Fine. Every single Capcom game for years had them. But let players know from the very start what's available and what's not.

Is it not simple to include one of these items or a tutorial, explaining that these things are available for free later on than to obscure info and later try and set things right through a PR statement.

When Konami apparently sold save slots (They didn't. It's not possible to buy save slots in Survive, real money or not) they were torn apart. But because it's Capcom it's OK. And yes, Konami did allow you to get a character, not save, slot through their currency currency you got for free on a regular basis, as well as doing challenges. So why is one bad and the other not?

Now I will buy

I would recommend waiting for performance patches, it's all over the place. Itcrashed to me two times in the city.

Denuvo is a piece of shit garbage. Capcom is so worried with piracy they would rather butcher their games performance rather than lose a few thousand sales.

Agreed. Microtransactions should never be defended.
