Nah, that’s a silly remark. It could have diversity, it’s a fantasy gaming, it doesn’t need to be geographically or historically accurate, there are monsters and fire birds.
THAT SAID:
Devs should have the freedom to include whatever characters they want to include.
The mistake these people ALWAYS make is expecting American, Japanese and European white and male developers to put diverse characters on their games. They’re not doing it. And what’s worse, if they do it, it’s in a stereotypical way. The solution to this problem is not forcing develoeprs to put these characters but to the people that fall into the diverse categories to start developing games. That’s the main reason you have lots of these in movies and shows now, these people are the creators now.
It’s the only viable solution.
I guarantee it that the game would have diverse characters if the developers were diverse, but alas, they’re Japanese. It is what it is.
