lmao I didn't think the game director was lying. Since he was on some launch press tour in the Philippines I had a feeling he could've made an off the cuff remark referring to the update that already rolled out, not being aware that it had already come out, which tracked since there was no other official word until now.

So I tried the new update. Visual quality in performance mode is still not great, but it's a bit better in the open world sections. They seem to have introduced a lot of pop-in though, I think they made the LoD transition distance closer. Feels like they added a sharpening filter on as well, you can see a lot of sharpening artifacts ghosting in motion around edges because of their temporal antialiasing or whatever. Textures can still be fairly blurry in the open world, but it's better. I kinda look forward to seeing how crazy bad this game is gonna run on PC lol

I'm expecting an absolute shitshow of stutters.

Amplified sleep is the key for that fight.

i did use sleep, but my magnify materia wasn't leveled up yet so it ran out too quick, or my dudes would go and attack them and wake them up when not being controlled. it was annoying af

It's amazing how they mix very good graphics with some really bad looking stuff. I guess it's the price they paid by using UE.

Still, one of the best games I played in recent years.

Ive seen tht in a few games but I appreciate the really good and don't focus on the bad. I agree though it could be jarring.

My guess is they will continue to use UE4 for part 3. Switching over to UE5 might prolong development and Square has been vocal about how proud they were of keeping this Remake on schedule and on track. Hopefully the low res environment textures can get solve on the finale but my expectation for that is low.

Not wanting to persuade you... more like giving my opinion.

The graphic mode is good in terms of IQ and plays very well even being 30fps.
And the game itself is really a hell of upgrade in quality over Remake.
I can only recommend it.

fort condor is easy in rebirth, even in hard mode. Just don't spam your units in the beginning and it's a piece of cake

the hardest minigame i've gotten to so far was the combat sim where you had to kill the mindflayer first, that was annoying af because you couldn't kill either of the other two accidentally and they died extremely easily because your guys kept focusing on them when not being controlled
other than that the 3d brawler one was pretty tough

Apparently you can choose to do that fight with only one team member, so that might be how I'll try it. I've run into the same problem as you.

i did not find the graphical upgrade acceptable to trade off for frame smoothness. I'm on an OLED though so if you have a panel with slower response times it might be okay. After the update I just sit a little bit further than normal from the TV and it looks fine, I can ignore the occasional blurry texture.

Apparently you can choose to do that fight with only one team member, so that might be how I'll try it. I've run into the same problem as you.

Was my first idea, but the weak enemies love to blow themselves up. Even if you manage to kill the big enemy first, chances are high they will kill you if you are alone.

Magnify+sleep makes the fight easy.
Party with Cloud, Tifa, Red (quick stagger + quick ATB refill). Whoever has sleep should have first strike.

Always keep an ATB charge filled to recast sleep in case the effect fades off.

Yeah, when I beat it I had to use first strike materia to cast sleep, didn't have magnify so I had to put all my ATB boosters on nanaki so he could cast it twice in a row lol. It was still really frustrating because they kept getting woken up by the teammates

Funny how I hvnt played and I'm trying to guess what all this means, I'm lost I'm sure itll all make sense once I buy it.
