It was clear early on that the PS5 Pro was going to be the most power console in history. It was also clear that it was going to be $ for $ the best modern gaming device that you can buy, with a clear value advantage over PC.

It makes the PS5 look like the XSS compared to the XSX.

The biggest question mark was always going to be PSSR which looks like it largely delivers here even in its first release rendition.

This will sell out on pre-order day and the narrative will continue to shift from is it worth it to what it looks like to not have it.

Every game that releases, the difference will be highlighted.

When Microsoft releases games on PS5 and they play better on PS5 Pro, they're going to have a massive PR issue. The only way against this is locked frame rates and locked resolution below what the PS5 Pro is capable of. It'll be interesting to see how the PS5 Pro mandate is enforced and if all games need to have an uncapped frame rate mode available.
If Microsoft doesn't take advantage of the Pro it's going to be an even bigger PR disaster, might as well include Pro enhancements on every game they release on PS5. India Jones will melt eyeballs on PS5 Pro.

I love your posts, always sharing data objectively. Big props, keep doing it :)

Regarding the list, I'd love to see there Street Fighter 6 even if it's just to improve the jagged hair and shadows in the versus screen and put the World Tour mode at steady 60fps at all times.
Other PS5 Pro patches will arrive for other games after launch, just as they did for the PS4 Pro.
The list is sure to grow with the time.

Yes, sure. As happened with PS4 Pro. This is just the start, mostly teams who had early access to the devkit or almost. More will follow over time, both new games and (in a smaller proportion) old ones.

A bigger PR disaster? How so? I don't think so. I think the biggest issue would probably be further M&A where there is clear evidence of them worsening games.

They'll probably start locking all their games to 4k30 now.

Nice list so far... I hope more games like Tekken 8 will be "PS5 Pro Enhanced" soon though!

I doubt we see PS5 Pro Enhanced on Tekken 8, but because Tekken 8 uses DRS, we should see locked 4K60 rather than the 1440p on the base console due to Pro Boost Mode.

It would be nice if they replaced FSR1 with PSSR.

I expect future games will take better advantage of PSSR rather than older games where the dev has to go back and implement it.

Well then I hope that's the case AT LEAST... But if they can improve it even more so would that be very good!

Yeah, pretty sure you can pretty simply compile it against the new SDK toggle off FSR and toggle on PSSR and fine tune it from there deciding what native resolution you need in order to hit your frame rate objectives. If you know where the more stringent areas of your engine are, then you can test them there as a baseline.

I wonder how DRS will work, I'd assume DRS would work on the last step and the native resolution would stay the same but the output resolution would by dynamic in order to achieve the frame rates you want.

I think it's pretty suspect if devs decide not to go back and patch most games for PSSR, even if you kept the native resolution the same, PSSR would make it look even better.

When building games now, you have your PC build and you first find out what it can do on PS5 Pro with most of the settings enabled, and then you pare it down for PS5 and XSX, and then again for XSS.

Interesting to see how many games will get announced updates and when. Interesting that he confirmed this in a flipping tweet of all things rather than an official announcement, but gives hope that a lot more games are coming and hopefully soon.

As excited as I am about boost mode (and curious to see boost mode independent of Pro enhancements) I feel like nearly every game under the sun should get a proper update even including taking the opportunity to bring some PS4 games to PS5.

That's awesome to hear and I hope Sony keeps it been this easy or maybe even easier in the future! (y)

As PSSR evolves over time, yes, it'll be easier to implement because you'll probably have less fine tuning to do on the back end.

We'll see how often PSSR gets updated (if there are official announcements) and how often studios go back to update their old games wit the latest PSSR versus just using it in new games.

PSSR is already amazing so yes it'll hopefully get updated and be even better whether that update to it is once a year or multiple times every year.

And yeah it would be great if every game that uses it gets updated every time Sony improves PSSR as that's needed and will only mean good stuff for the studios who choose to use PSSR for sure! (y)

PSSR will be the cornerstone for Sony going forward on their next systems, PS Handheld and PS6.

The biggest question is how it will keep up with FSR4 and other AMD advancements and whether Sony can catch up to DLSS.

Well Sony introduces something new and useful with every console generation so I can see PSSR (AI) been the current one and then before or after the PS6 is out so will there be something new and useful around the time the PS6 Pro drops and it'll hopefully continue been this way and hopefully so will it be stuff good for gaming and hopefully won't include any of the cloud/streaming stuff as I do really dislike that and I hope Sony doesn't do like MS and uses it tbh... And especially when it comes to Single Player games.

And well everything new takes time... So I would say it'll eventually catch up and be as good as FSR/DLSS or maybe even better... But we'll see what happens in the next 2-5 years though! (y)

The reality is PSSR is huge for Cloud.

The goal here will be to utilize significantly lower native resolutions combined with advanced compression, while still outputting high resolution games with minimal input latency.

Cloud is absolutely coming and will increasingly be important to sony.
