Melee combat
Magic/ranged attacks
Blocks/dodge counter
RPG elements
Exploration
Fantasy like setting inspired on European mythology
Third person
Main quest and side quests

If these games can't be compared I don't know which two could be.

Anyway, I prefer GoW 2018 over Elden Ring, so I'm pretty sure I would prefer GoW R just for three pace of the combat and the style of challenge it offers.

This reminds me when I used to say GoW 2018 is a souls game. Well it is.

However I prefer the combat in GoW over souls. Unless you’re a caster… I don’t sympathize with those players who play like that… lame.

I get it that many people love the Sony "cinematic" experience that's in every one of their exclusives. I'm just more of a fan of gameplay and FROM seems to be top dawg for me.

Since you're so much into From games, did you ever give Bloodborne any consideration, or is it off limits because it's a PS exclusive?

The PC fanboys will be on war footing as well. Funny them clowns still have yet to play From's best souls games to date on that platform (Demons, Bloodborne), at least officially - not fast food like Elden Ring.

I played Bloodborne years ago on my PS4 but never went past the first level before getting distracted with other games. I regret doing that as I don't have the PS4 anymore.

Yea, I played Demon Souls back when it came on the PS3. I thought it was too hard back in the day and never finished it.

They wouldn’t be enough to keep me interested in gaming overall. It would be like going back to the 360/ps3 days and prior but without great jrpgs, and the output from those studios severely decreased.

I don’t care about red dead or gta that much anymore (although i will buy them because of course) they release one game a generation. I played though plague tale requiem and it was nice but it still feels like a game trying desperately to be a sony game on a budget, capcom is mostly monster hunter and resident evil, two game franchises im not crazy about. Still know nothing about Pragmata which is like their first major new IP in a awhile

Square enix is another company thats great but doesn’t have a consistent enough output anymore to keep me locked into gaming. As far as single player experiences go nothing really compares to Sony first party, not enough for me to get crazy excited about anymore.

Fromsoft games (notably Miyazaki) and Final Fantasy series is like my peripheral hype franchises outside sony. Everything else im happy to get it when it comes and if it comes out great but they aren’t enough to sustain my interest in gaming. Not enough to spend the money i currently do on it.

For me there are way too many games that I love outside of Sony franchise games. The only 3 Sony franchise games that I couldn't do without is TLOU, GoW and Spiderman. All the other ones I'm not really interested in (Uncharted, Horizon, and R&C). Hopefully ND will show more of their new IP and I'll be on board with that.

Comparing both of our likes/dislikes, I would say that we are exactly the opposite but share the hype on FROM games. I could get by with a whole bunch of Indie games that come on Steam for $10 or so as well.

Sekiro is not a souls formula game. Stands on its own. Elden Ring is.

Yea those comments are a dumb take. God of War is souls with difficulty options. Playing the first game first run on harder difficulty was an amazing experience.

I loved Bloodborne. I love souls games. God of Wars combat is so far above and beyond it. Sure it’s a bit more user friendly… that’s not a bad thing.

Excellence in game design.

nice praise from Team Ninja, their games has high end gameplay. fluent animation, combat, complexity. Wo Long looks really good. i hope they will keep all that for Ronin!

Ok, I'm sorry, but how can you say From games are this amazing thing (which they may be, not gonna argue that) and then say GoW is clunky? One thing From games are is that their animation and controls are notoriously clunky with a couple of exceptions. That's almost to be expected of those games. And that's ok, people enjoy them thoroughly.

And lol @ GoW being a button masher. That's 100% a lie, unless you played the game in easy mode.
