i would probably quit gaming if sony stopped making games. Theres just really nothing else that compares at this point for single player games
I think that you're just obtuse, at some level they're very much comparable.
Action/skills based combat
Melee combat
Magic/ranged attacks
Blocks/dodge counter
RPG elements
Exploration
Fantasy like setting inspired on European mythology
Third person
Main quest and side quests
If these games can't be compared I don't know which two could be.
Anyway, I prefer GoW 2018 over Elden Ring, so I'm pretty sure I would prefer GoW R just for three pace of the combat and the style of challenge it offers.
I get it that many people love the Sony "cinematic" experience that's in every one of their exclusives. I'm just more of a fan of gameplay and FROM seems to be top dawg for me.
Umm.. I'll give you Bloodborne. But Demons? Nah.. I"d replace Demons with Sekiro to be inline with popular opinion. The PC fanboys will be on war footing as well. Funny them clowns still have yet to play From's best souls games to date on that platform (Demons, Bloodborne), at least officially - not fast food like Elden Ring.

I would agree with you but Capcom, FROM, Asobo(new kid on the block), and Rockstar are still around.i would probably quit gaming if sony stopped making games. Theres just really nothing else that compares at this point for single player games
God of War has gameplay but to me it's not anything special. I finished GoW(2018) this year and the animation/control is too clunky (I hate when he turns) and it's more of a button masher than FROM games. As I said before "cinematic" to me is different definition to what other people are saying.God of War has BOTH the "cinematic experience" AND THE GAMEPLAY. I'm sorry but you REALLY DON'T get it. Assuming you are arguing in good faith, that is.
I never shit on GoW by calling it more of a "cinematic" experience.Edit: and take note how I praised God of War without feeling any need to belittle Elden Ring either.
Same here.I actually like both games! Funny how that works...
I played Bloodborne years ago on my PS4 but never went past the first level before getting distracted with other games. I regret doing that as I don't have the PS4 anymore.Since you're so much into From games, did you ever give Bloodborne any consideration, or is it off limits because it's a PS exclusive?
Yea, I played Demon Souls back when it came on the PS3. I thought it was too hard back in the day and never finished it.
Just for more context. Not saying I agree with MatthewMattosis, btw.

For me there are way too many games that I love outside of Sony franchise games. The only 3 Sony franchise games that I couldn't do without is TLOU, GoW and Spiderman. All the other ones I'm not really interested in (Uncharted, Horizon, and R&C). Hopefully ND will show more of their new IP and I'll be on board with that. They wouldn’t be enough to keep me interested in gaming overall. It would be like going back to the 360/ps3 days and prior but without great jrpgs, and the output from those studios severely decreased.
I don’t care about red dead or gta that much anymore (although i will buy them because of course) they release one game a generation. I played though plague tale requiem and it was nice but it still feels like a game trying desperately to be a sony game on a budget, capcom is mostly monster hunter and resident evil, two game franchises im not crazy about. Still know nothing about Pragmata which is like their first major new IP in a awhile
Square enix is another company thats great but doesn’t have a consistent enough output anymore to keep me locked into gaming. As far as single player experiences go nothing really compares to Sony first party, not enough for me to get crazy excited about anymore.
Fromsoft games (notably Miyazaki) and Final Fantasy series is like my peripheral hype franchises outside sony. Everything else im happy to get it when it comes and if it comes out great but they aren’t enough to sustain my interest in gaming. Not enough to spend the money i currently do on it.
Sekiro is not a souls formula game. Stands on its own. Elden Ring is.Umm.. I'll give you Bloodborne. But Demons? Nah.. I"d replace Demons with Sekiro to be inline with popular opinion.
Nah, you didn't played God of War, or you are trying to bait people again with that nonsense.God of War has gameplay but to me it's not anything special. Imagine believing GoW gameplay have bad animation, is clunky or a button smasher.
I challenge anybody to finish GoW just button smashing…
The bias is showed in each word.
Edit - I will left that here from Team Ninja.
