I went ahead and bought BF2042 because matchmaking haven't been working for 3 days, thanks Sony.

Why can't you just choose your mission manually? I like to know the objectives before starting a mission and you can play with a squad easily that way.

I don't know. Most of the times when I select a mission. People start to show up. I don't play solo. So you should try. Select the Mission and wait. Normally is instant. Anyway I'm going to jump in but I'm in a queue

With matchmaking being broken for me the majority of times I've played it I'll give it a 7/10 for the solo experience. I wish they'd add AI bots for solo players and maybe even a story mode and it would be a 10/10.

If you're on public and select a mission, people appear in your ship automatically or you can select a mission in progress on the map. You see 1/4, 2/4 white icons on the map.

Apparently there was a mention I missed in HD2 to the Illuminate, the 3rd enemy faction that was in HD1 but still isn't present in HD2:
