Yes, the core issues are at the top.
But I still think someone else in charge of the studios would do better, even Shuhei with his own shortcoming would be better.

Jim mentioned Hermen wanted fasted PC release and that he didnt. Im sure alot of the Horizon decisions wouldnt have been pushed as hard either if Hermen wasnt there
So what you're saying is we need back Jim Ryan 😼

Only blind ponies don't see this. The writing is on the wall. It is the exact xbox cycle. Day and date on PC/ other console, GaaS, subscriptions, wait till E3.

TBH the Spiderman 3 part was the first Ive heard. And without mention PS numbers its a bit weird. Wishful thinking because PS said they wont do Day 1 because its not good for there business. Like releasing Day 1 on subcription isnt good and they kept there word for profit motives. Thats why I still think Sony might not do day and date, it doresnt even make sense for them, so maybe they see that. Maybe not.

You cant really compare it to Xbox cycle though.

1. PS to PC release is different to what Xbox did.
Xbox suddenly went day and date with there big titles in 2016, when Halo 5 failed to move Xbox 1 numbers in 2015.
After that Gears, Forza, Sea of Thieves and the 1st party games went day and date with Windows/PC. 2016 onwards. They never had slowed released like PS to PC (1-3+ years etc)
They were forced to do it because Halo 5 didnt work out for them, and Xbox 1 was not selling well.

All games released at the same time after 2016. Alot of games before that werent even ported to PC like Halo 5, Xbox 1 only. They never did what PS is doing now with a fazed release. I dont like them releasing on PC, but its not the same or been similar to each other atm.

2. Subscriptions. Playstation actually had a subcription service before Xbox, it was PS NOW in 2014. While Gamepass was 2017. PS didnt fold like the industry and media was begging, porting AAA games day one on subscription like Gamepass. But they didnt copy Xbox for a subsciption service. They just rebranded PS+ from PS NOW which was released before.

3. Gaas? I dont even know what you mean by this. PS copied MS for Gaas? As in online Multi player games?
Studios are making more Gaas games because they make money. And a huge percentage of gamers play MP. Sony has had Gaas and MP games before Xbox was even a console.
They had plenty Online MP games on PS3 and even PS2 with Socom, Final Fantasy 11, Kilzone 2, Warhawk, Uncharted 2 etc and more.

They arent copying MS, they just see theres huge money to make in MP percentage of gamers too, which they didnt concentrate on during the PS4. Games like Fortnite and Apex Legends are probably bigger reasons they are trying it. They are still releasing SP games and more of them then MP games.

4. Wait till E3.
While Sony has been lacking in this department, Sony did say they dont want to announce most there games from far out, like with Ghost of Yotei coming next year. Astrobot coming out within a year of getting announced etc. I dont agree with it, but thats what they wanna do. I see loads of issues with it.
It wasnt the same as MS, who always said wait til E3 for the next console saving titles. And then when they got announced, still be years and years out like HellBlade 2, Perfect Dark etc.

For any new boss, the 180 needs big justification. Much more than the justification they needed when they decided to put all this BS together.
SIE opened a can of worms.
I don't think any new leader of PlayStation can reverse anything unless the CEO backs off the department.its far too consolidated now for anyone to really make a difference.

The only thing is to break up SIE again. Give back each territory its own leadership and that leadership isn't allowed to also have a say over PlayStation development studios like how it use to be back in the day.

Unfortunately shareholders and CEO now see PlayStation as nothing but an easy way to milk the brand to guarantee their bonuses

You guys are nothing but consumers, you don't know who or which CEO was best for the job because none of you worked under that management, none of you know any of the financials or goals, only given bits and pieces from company PR. reading you guys judge certain eras by CEO is hilariously elementary but I digress. You can be at the top of the bunch but still have little power in the grand scheme of it all.

purty graphics will never make up for the brain dead lame story of borizon zero charm

I think horizon ZD had the best story of all Sony exclusives post last of us. It had lame characters but the story was intriguing. It's what got me through the game as gameplay was generic.

This is nonsense my friend. We may not know the ins and out but as cosumers you can still tell because each CEO's era does affect you as the end consumer and it also does affect the brand.

We could tell Kaz was a great CEO for gaming and we can also tell Totoki and Yoshida are terrible CEO's when it comes to gaming.

Some of us saw that Jim Ryan was not the guy for the job, just like we could tell Hermen was useless dead weight long ago.

I’d still say a management team who are more passionate about gaming and trust in the Gaming console market and their studios will be better than heads who are from Sony’s mobile departments and don't respect the console market as much. The team with PS4 was all in for it, they were responsible and passionate for there region.
Ive worked in gaming as a tester, qa and concept stages and when you have bosses who know nothing about gaming and pitch idea based on increases profits, its easy tell.

They see stats somewhere and want to replicate it. People who I report to about testing sometimes, dont even game. Or the people who present what some of the ideas they want to make.

They see whats popular, and try and copy it. I remember being in a early concept questionnaire with a western developer on a project that didnt get started in london (Thanksfully lol). The concept art, ideas literally sounded like they wanted to make horizon… but with real animals, they even copied the red mist in Horizon 2 and corruption. Not a small publisher either. Female, Bow n Arrow, braided hair. Tribes type people lol.

Sony might be making better profit moves right now, and organising staff better. Which is needed. But I dont think they have THEE best team driving and trusting the power of there console gaming division. There can be a good middle ground. Im not saying Nintendo is it, but they know there worth at least. They can certainly do better, there was alot less fans complaining between 2009-2020

Prove it. Demonstrate which PS CEO had or hadn't power in the grand scheme of things.

IconEra is waiting.

You don't need to worry about that. Lego Horizon is number 818 on Steam, yesterday it was 900+. It will be the biggest PC flop after Concord.

Normally, it should open their eyes about all the damage these ports did to their business but it won't. Sony is the dumbest company out there. A luxury brand giving away their goods like it's trash 🤡

They made their bed. Now we can just point and laugh until they go 3rd-party like Sega and Xbox 🤭

...unless it's GaaS... or a remaster/remake... or a LEGO game.

They also said at least 2 years before the ports and that it wouldn't impact the console releases....

Its up to them if they wanna do it and mess up. What exactly has impacted console releases though?

The Lego game is the only thing I dont care about going multiplatform. Its 3rd party.

Id rather keep SP games, Remakes/Remasters and Gaas exclusive to PS. Like PS2/PS3/PS4 days of online MP. Everything should be exclusive.
