They could have paid cerny 1 billion a year and saved a heck of a lot of money in the long run, not to mention having a console that actually works.
Cerny wouldn't do much. He is a technical guy. Microsoft doesn't have engineering problem at the moment. Their problem is that they want to fuck Sony and control the industry.

They actually do, they made a 12TF console with proprietary storage that gets beat by the PS5 on a regular basis and that they also claim they are unable to produce in sufficient amount despite Sony selling multiple times as many units.

This is the 3rd major deal in a row that Microsoft has failed to close on. (Tiktok, Discord, Activision). If the shareholders don't have major questions about the ability of current management to close deals, they're blind.
