In 2014... PS4 sold 4.6 million in the US compared to 4.3 million for the XB1

2015 - PS4 sold 5.7 million compared to 4.9 million for XB1

2016 - PS4 sold 5.1 million compared to Xbox 4.7 million.

I mentioned worldwide sales, just like you. PS4 already gained a big worldwide advantage in 2014.

You guys always make the assumption that no matter what Gamepass is going to work when in reality no matter what they have done Gamepass has failed.

Gamepass is what killed Xbox console business, in exchange for nothing. Their PC gaming and cloud gaming business are even more pathetic than Xbox.

MS question now is how can they run Activision + Blizzard + Bethesda + MS Studios without bleeding money every quarter. Last quarter even with a CoD release there was a massive net loss from their gaming business.

For obvious reasons? The Series had worldwide launch? The Xbox One has a staggered Tier Launch. The Xbox One was selling extremely well for the first 3 years as they were far more aggressive with it. It was giving PS4 a good challenge especially in North America compared to the PS5 / Series console.

They can make a hardware that isn't competiting in the high end space that offers their services for existing customers / library preservation and it doesn't have to be centered around streaming, quit being obtuse. A streaming only box will never work for many reasons.

Even the biggest Xbox haters are unlikely to have predicted that somehow the Series S + Series X would sell less than the Xbox One even after MS bought Bethesda + Activision + Blizzard for over $80B. It's just a non realistic level of failure.

To bomb with a console that costs as low as $239 new on Amazon, after investing so much is really something else. Let's also remember that Covid did help Xbox Series for most of it's existence and PS5 only had about 1 year without availability issues.

Since I'm always down on Xbox I predicted the Series would be a disaster but I'm not sure I envisioned something this dire. As soon as they bought Bethesda I knew they were going third party tho.
