Era seems to want the next CEO to be a Phil Spencer-Style leader as if that's at all what the majorty wants or what PlayStation even needs. Andrew House, Shawn Layden and Jack Tretton style leadership would all work.
Jim is old, so he may just be retiring. Hopefully the next leader is ready to do battle with a much larger, much more aggressive Xbox.

Not much will change. They will keep doing what they are doing RIGHT NOW.
Jim is just retiring. A new boss will appear and continue with Sony's current plan/strategy.
30 years is a long time so good for him for retiring next year.

Nah, I doubt retirement (legitimate). There was no plan, no 2nd man, nothing, just this.
So yes, retirement, but he's being sent on his merry way.

It can't get much worse than Jim and the new CEO is Japanese, so hopefully he will look at what Nintendo is doing and emulate that instead of Sony trying to copy Xbox

Here's hoping the new (non-temporary) CEO has some interesting ideas for PlayStation that pays more attention to the core audience. PlayStation also has the opportunity to make all of their bad PR disappear with Jim.
