I think Apple should port MacOS to computers other than Apple machines. They are losing a lot of install base, and it would be as easy as simply porting the product. They already made it with x86 in mind, so it's a no-brainer. Look at how many installs they are losing to Microsoft!

And while we're at it, why doesn't Valve make Counter-Strike 2 available on the Epic Games Store? After all, they could branch out to another market, one where users may hypothetically not have a Steam account to begin with. So much money left on the table!
Unironically this is obviously true. There are massive tech segments that Apple can't reach because they've stuck to the walled garden approach. They have no cloud presence at all. Yeah actually look how many installs they are losing to Microsoft. They are losing, clearly.

It's a totally fake news that broken standards, intentional incompatibility, closed apis, etc lead to a better user experience. Because the comparison has been between Microsoft's lazy monopoly and Apple's luxury nerd marketing, it looks like there's something intrinsically correct in Apple's approach. But MS is just that shitty, and they do plenty of Apple's bullshit tactics as well.

Man, imagine being such a cheerleader for Valve you come to this type of conclusion. Apple systems are used in schools & universities, creative industries, medical fields and so forth. They may not have the market share volume of Windows PC but guess what? They don't need them, either. They have as high or higher a market valuation than Microsoft with less presence in those areas, and a much more dedicated customer base. Growth doesn't mean everything.

Also no one's ever mentioned the things you try spinning with loaded negative connotations, as inherent benefits to closed ecosystems. Ironically the first two are things actually associated with open standards, not closed ones. Look at the history of PC-compatibles, hell look at the issues with DX11U and how features like DirectStorage STILL aren't being used by most games despite being introduced over a year ago. Or things like mesh shading programming, for that matter, or how we're only now starting to see a trickle of UE5 games over three years after the first reveal. It's closed platforms that have traditionally, and to this day, fare much better with those two things, because of stuff like "closed" APIs.

So literal evidence shows what you're saying is just complete bogus. But I get it, you gotta do anything and everything to signal-boost your preferred platform, even if it doesn't involve telling the truth 🤔

Lol I see why you're not in charge of any business. Apple probably makes more profit off of its macbook line than all of the free Windows activations fees or whatever they charge now. Apple is the one worth more than Microsoft so clearly their walled garden approach is better than whatever you just spouted.

The OS is the selling feature of the Apple hardware. Just like Sony's exclusives WERE the selling feature of the Playstation.

But you're modus operandi on this forum has always been to justify anything PC/Steam related as good so I know this will go in one ear and out the other.

Do Apple need cloud?

According to Insomniac leaks, Spiderman 2 will be the "most expensive PC port to date" at ~4.5M. On a development budget of $90M for the whole game. Supporting PC is a rounding error. The cost would be almost undetectable if it was executed concurrently with the game's development.
The work/cost is the same, the only difference would be that the costs would be merged in a single budget instead of keeping them in 2.

They still have the Steam platform specific stuff, support DLSS/whatever PC techs available there, to make it scalable to different resolutions/gpus/memories/etc, add extra seetings and extra support for other controllers including keyboard and mouse, maybe support of suff like ultrawide screens, etc.

X-Men will be day and date.
At the end of the text they mention "one of the three major titles in the first year after its PlayStation console release". If it would be day and date they wouldn't specify its PS console release of the X-Men games.

Around a couple million, what I expected. But seems weird to see Spider-Man 2, Wolverine and Spider-Man 3 costing way more.

Also, why should we belive this Installbase user who doesn't show any source? It could be just random fake data he invented.

I realize that some people are just better left on Ignore. They're incessantly dense and refuse to listen to sound reason, and refuse to look at any data that refutes their superiority complex of their preferred gaming storefront.

Any type of business rushing to placate to those types of customers just for "free money", is a doomed business. You can't get more simple than that.

They have plenty of cloud, they just don't resell it. iCloud is huge, it just isn't offered in a bulk format like Azure or Amazon Cloud Services.

Flaccid Snake know only what Gabe the Hutt tells him.
iCloud runs on Google Cloud, which is a competitor to Azure and AWS. iCloud is not even remotely similar to any of these three.

Yeah we need more sources or a valid one.
