Well if Sony depended of ND this gen they were fucked.
Basically we are in the middle of the gen and ND didn’t release anything… plus all their focus and effort in a GAAS game failed making it that now they will start to work in something else.
Don’t expect anything from ND before 2026 that is already end of generation and that if they are fast.
Guerrilha the opposite… already delivered this gen plus made an Engine that can be used by all gaming studios…
They contribution to Sony was priceless.
In the last 4 years ND released TLOU2 breaking sales and GOTY records, Legacy of Thieves Collection, TLOUP1, the PC ports of both, TLOU2R, an a super successful Uncharted movie and TLOU tv show.
There's no issue with them at all. Regarding mainline games, after TLOU2 started another SP title, which under normal AAA developments of nowadays (remember that there were lockdowns) takes 5-9 years to be done. Which is normal, we are not in the PS2 or PS3 days when AAA games were made way faster.
During that time they grew and had a second team who worked in the cancelled TLOU Online (shit happens, games get canned all the time) and a minimum a third SP game.
They released a lot of stuff and recently have been working in more projects at the same time than ever. And well, not sure if they continue with it but at least several years ago ND also had the ICE Team (a long time ago even Cerny worked there), their main engine team who supported not only other 1st party teams, but even 3rd party teams.

Jim Ryan was not from Guerilla Games. He has been President of the European division of Playstation for several years before he was promoted to Group President/CEO of S.I.E (formerly Sony Computer Entertainment - America, Europe, Asia).
But, correct, Hermen was Studio President of Guerilla since the early 2000s (maybe earlier, don't quote me on that).

Evan Wells was great tho he pretty much cut off communication with Naughty Dog fans / the community after 2013. Not to mention the Amy Hennig / Justin Richmond - early 2014 Exodus happened under his watch. Which the studio just never recovered from up this day.

He was a penny pincher through and through, from closing studios while in charge of SIEE and then PS Studios, to pushing a live service strategy that anybody could see would fail... Penny pincher? PS studios tripled in size under him. Just cause you don't notice the effect in headlines but all major studios have grown to 400 in staff outside of acquisitions. That people expect games in 2 years is up to them, there is a reason he said it's going to snowball from here. 300 million for Spider-Man 2 is not something I would call penny pinching. Why do you think Totoki addressed this directly especially on the Californian studios.
Regarding the Japanese relationships most of them were freebies, simple; MS and Nintendo were a non factor for a long time.

Yes they lost Atlus freebie due to Phil's pursuit, they just let another studio drop GB Fantasy Relink a day before P3R, did similar numbers btw on launch despite not being on Xbox/Switch.
Acting like PS5 didn't go after exclusive Japanese games despite FF7/16, Forspoken, Ronin, Silent Hill 2 and DS2/Physint hmm.. or continue marketing with Capcom and the Fighting genre through EVO.
Regarding the output, the first half of PS4 it got called Indiestation 4 for a reason. The PS5 outclasses the 4 hard in the same timeframe. Denying PS now, Gaikai and PC ports starting in PS4 gen is the actual revisionist take. It has been happening long before.
