The CMA has already said that they are not accepting the 10-year-old.

Instead of addressing that, Microsoft is doing everything else. And then Microsoft will cry and blame Sony when the CMA blocks the deal.

MS addressing it would require them to admit that they have gleefully pissed all over every agreement they’ve ever made to regulators in the past.

If we assume EC accept the 10 year deal with just putting game on other platforms, i don't know how any lawyer who can look at the PF and come to that conclusion. Also microsoft and other parties are yet to present their case to CMA.

Given this recent development, Sony have maneuvered this masterfully by playing hardball with this deal. They get a waaay more favorable outcome than they would have if they had just caved, regardless of the outcome.

There were three companies interested in buy Xbox at the peak/end of the 360 gen; Samsung, EA and an unknown, never released 3rd interested party. Some speculate Disney, others speculate Apple.

The 3rd party bailed out first. EA set an offer which MS rejected so they bailed. Samsung and MS has long negotiations with Samsung eventually bowing out.

Yeah he is a lawyer. He specialized in corporate m&a so his stances sometimes seem ludicrous because they are based on the viewpoint of how a corporation would act, because corporations have legal advantages that don't seem like they would be reasonable under american law. So this type of extortion would maybe sway a US regulator in the past despite defying all logic.

Because it's the logical turn of events when this acquisition fails. The money earmarked for this acquisition comes with strings attached - it's not a blank cheque for Xbox to spend however they wish. The inability to accelerate their growth is inevitably going to lead to their decline as a business unit as Sony grows. With companies, opportunity cost is a real consideration, and the accountants will determine that the money will be better spent on AI, Azure, and modelling Xbox to be more like the rest of MS: software only.
