COD is one of those things that people will buy regardless of actual quality. Depending on how every other purchase is managed, it could end up being the main thing keeping them afloat in the future.
It can waver quite easily tho - Vanguard or Infinite Warfare wasn't a cash cow like MW for example. DO a few flops in a row and questions will be asked by the shareholders.

This is my favourite bit from the response

Sony basically accusing the CMA of only using microsofts estimates that were calculated just for this case and not looking at other existing documents for evidence of foreclosure being worth it for MS that may be higher. Combine that with the comment that the CMA did this without explanation feels like CMA is falling for the MS pressure tactics.

Dear god Sony is murdering them with logic. I don't see them not appealing the decision at this point. Something big had to go down behind the scenes for them to just take MS' word as gospel out of the blue. Unless they really folded to shitty PR stunts

Agreed, if MS takes the Mojang approach of just leaving them be, then COD will go on to continue to be successful like Minecraft has. They could probably even help Xbox game studios if they were given charge of some of MS IP's and marketing. the only way MS could ruin COD is if they bungle their foreclosure strategy by cutting off PS too early or in a haphazard manner. Judging by Zenimax it's a question of when not if, COD leaves PS.

CMA for sure didn't fold for shitty pr stunt.
M$ threw a lot of shit and nothing worked.
M$ got to them politics or just bought out.

This was huge u-turn, like m$ treated their life or something big.

It was shocking how they turned around and took Microsoft word 100%. It's like they were influenced by the hate campaign against Sony Microsoft and their angry shills are doing. Microsoft said Sony will be fine no matter what so whatever. Drop the case 🤡

They lost all credibility.

Not shocking, they just buckled under the pressure of all MS lobbying and crazy PR.

It's bizzarre the CMA so quick to remove the console SLC and not ask for input from other parties before removing it. It's quite clear Sony are presenting new evidence, and possibly stuff CMA turned a blind eye to for whatever reason.

An ex CMA lawyer said(to paraphrase) this is unprecedented and they'd rather die then change the PF. So why the rush to remove it?

Where they hoping for Sony to fold and walk away?

I’m not so sure about that.

I have a feeling that the CMA eased up on the COD stuff to focus their denial of approval on the cloud issue, as there are fewer variables that can be spun in MS’ favour when it comes to the cloud.

Great video by the reforge gaming guy going over the recent sony response

To add to this post.
Its around 38 minutes long intro going into most if not all of what was contained in the response.
Everything he says it based on the facts of the documents.
After the 38-ish minute mark he goes into talking and responding to the chat.

Sony points are so sound and logical that to ignore them is naked bias from the cma, or any regulator for that matter. Id be curious to see what googles complaints are. It seems unprecedented that two huge corporations are opposed to an acquisition, only other one i can think of is ARM.

For the crowd that says Sony unfairly leverages their market share, What exclusives did Sony buy leveraging their market share? Deathloop, ghostwire, and ff16 don’t count because the deals were made before ps5 was available so ps5 had a 0 percent market share. Ff7 was deal was made early 2015, what were the console sales splits of the Xbox one and ps4 then? Not that far apart. So what game did Sony unfairly use their market share for ?

Sony can't leverage their market share.
MS can leverage their massive size.
Those are the rules, anything else is just anti-American.

I get that that is the double standard, but all these games they complain about sony didnt even have said market share.

The last time MS had decent market share (or expected to have) they bought exclusives from SquareEnix (Tomb Raider), Capcom (Dead Rising) and EA (Titanfall). Even just bringing this up now is absurd, MS only stopped doing it with big games because it doesn't work for them anymore but they still do it with indies and smaller games.
